Sarah Franck
11th April, 1979 - 29th November, 2021Much beloved Sarah Lynne Franck, nee Hatcher, died suddenly on November 29, 2021. The cause was complications resulting from acute sepsis. She was only 42. Born and raised in Irvine, CA, she spent her life in Southern California. From an early age she could spend hours, and days, reveling in the enchantments of Disneyland, eventually working there as an Attractions Cast Manager on the ever-popul... more

Join MemoriesPatrick Hatcher Watching Sarah interact with the boys was always a joy for me. She was able to summon her inner child and connect. A totally present Mom.
Karen Hatcher From Carol Power - Sarah's aunt. We are so sorry for the sudden loss of Sarah, it happened all too soon, unexpectedly and left a large empty space within the family. I became acquainted with Sarah before she was born as Judy, Pat and Geoffrey awaited her entry into the world. We were excited to have a new family member and Sarah was a beautiful baby who was warmly welcomed into the Hatcher family. Sarah was an adorable towheaded child and she was a Daddy’s girl from the beginning. The memory I want to share is one where Sarah, about age 2 came to stay with us in Fresno, CA. for a few days. I think Judy was meeting Pat in San Francisco for a few days of vacation. I cannot remember who was with Geoff. Sarah was left with her aunt, uncle and two preteen cousins whom she had not seen on a regular basis. In other words she was a sad little girl. Sarah resisted all our tries to get her distracted with toys, books, television and she was not interested in going into the swimming pool. Finally, I suggested that Sarah and I take our dog, Frisky, for a walk and that was when things changed. Our Frisky walk changed things as Sarah took the leash and walked Frisky. She bonded with the Frisky and wanted to pet and sit by him. Of course, Frisky loved the attention. Sarah would then go into the pool because Frisky went into the pool with her and the cousins were able to play with her in the pool.
Karen Hatcher From Carol Power - Sarah's aunt: Another remembrance is visiting the Hatchers at 29 Field, Irvine, CA in 1983. On that visit there was excitement because a new hot tub/Jacuzzi had been installed in the backyard. Pat enjoyed getting new equipment for the home and this was his latest purchase. What kid doesn’t like water and the cousins; Annie, Leslie, Geoff and Sarah had a great time together in the Jacuzzi.
Geoff Hatcher Sarah was such a uniue soul. Her perspective was always so different than mine. I will miss our chats and conversations over a glass of wine.
Karen Hatcher For my 60th birthday I wanted to bring together family and friends in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Sarah didn’t like to fly - really didn’t like the idea of being in a metal tube 30,00 feet in the air at a high rate of speed. But she agreed to come. And that meant a lot then, and now. I wanted images from that time together. So I had a local photographer take portraits, and of course held a birthday fiesta. These photos are from then.
Jane Franck My sweet Sarah what can I say but I miss you so much. You added so much to our family. We will never forget you but leave your memory alive with your boys and all who knew and loved you. These pics were taken at her baby shower for Andrew at Paris in a Cup in old town Orange. Sarah is the only person I’ve ever known who can wear any color of hair. This was one of my faves. George and I loved you as our own. We are taking good care of your boys. Our hearts are broken. 💔
Patrick Hatcher I will deeply miss Sarah's hugs She was exceptually generous with her hugs for famly, friends and her students
Annie Power The last time I was with my cousin Sarah, at our family reunion, she told me about her work as a teacher. We talked for a long time and her love for her students and pride in her profession was clear as day. Even when she described the real difficulties of having to teach for testing and drive a long commute, her caring and passion rang strong. I left that conversation thinking how lucky she was to have found a true vocation for herself and how fortunate any high schooler would be to have as their teacher someone with such passion, humor, intelligence and strength. I could tell Sarah was one of those rare educators whose personal connection and positive influence makes a difference in student’s lives well beyond the classroom. Although I didn’t get to see Sarah that often because we lived far away, every time I was with her, I laughed a lot. She had mirthful way about her that reminded me of her mom, with flashes of wicked humor like her dad. Anyone who can make people laugh is a gift to the world. This is how I remember Sarah, with love in my heart.
Thao Littler Sarah was such a beam of light, love, and laughter at my birthday party last year. Looking at these photos simultaneously fills and breaks my heart. We all had such a fun and memorable time dancing and singing with Sarah! I love and miss Sarah so much, every day.
Karen Hatcher This is Dory, from the Pixar film Finding Nemo. I'm a big fan of Dory's mantra, which is to "just keep swimming" through the challenges life brings you. Sarah knew that I loved this little fish, and she asked her mom Judy, who worked at Disneyland, to get me this - which she kindly did. It is a bit harder now to just keep swimming - but I am reminded of Sarah and I keep trying.
From Sarah's Aunt Daphne: I am Sarah’s aunt Daphne, sister of her dad, Pat. For much of Sarah’s life, we have lived far from each other in different parts of the country. I would only get to see Sarah at holidays and other family gatherings. The fact that we spent so little time together is the sadness that I now must live with. All the opportuni...
