Official Obituary: Robert Joseph Genovese (aka Bobby Geno) was born November 14, 1938 in Rochester, NY to Salvatore and Rose Genovese (Catalfo). He died surrounded by his family at his home in Las Vegas, NV from cancer on July 5th at age 81. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Josephine and brothers Louis and Santo (Sonny) all of Rochester. His youngest and last remaining sibling is Gerard. In 1967 Bobby married Ann Glenn Black of Toronto, Canada. They have three sons, Joseph, Patrick (Bonnie) and David (Amy). Last September the couple celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. He will be forever remembered by them all as well as his beloved grandchildren Gertrude, Warren, Jack and Demitra. A life long guitarist, Bobby left home at aged 20 to follow his life's dream of a musical career. He shortly became a member of The Jets, a musical comedy act that traveled throughout the United States and Canada. In 1960, he decided to make Las Vegas his permanent home. His partners, Ronnie Cola and Chuck Arnold remained his closest friends. When the Jets touring dates came to an end, Bobby went on to play with many well-known musicians. His guitar took him to interesting places around the world where he made many friends and developed a sense of wanderlust. He was particularly proud when his three boys decided to form the Exit 12 Band and began playing many of the same places that the Jets had played 40 years earlier. It went without saying that when Bobby joined the boys on stage audiences were captivated once more by his unique gift. The world never met a kinder soul than Bobby Geno. He was the type of person that could engage any room he was in and make everyone in that room feel just that much better after meeting him. He will truly be missed but not forgotten. Bobby's family will honor his wishes for no funeral service; however, they will host a memorial when it is appropriate and safe to gather.
