    Celebrating the life of

    Patricia Rae Squire Anderson

    20 Mar 1938 - 14 May 2020

We want to let you all know that Pat, Mom, Grammy, Mimi passed. We especially want to say loudly and clearly and with an abundance of admiration “Her will to live was phenomenal”. She fought long and hard for 4 years. During that time she continued to embody and carry on with one of her deepest desires; to seek adventure...long drives in the mountains with the requisite picnic, travel to Nebraska for the Squire reunion, travel to WV for High School and College graduations, overnight trips to the Mount cabin and its outhouse (oxygen in tow) and let’s not underestimate the adventure of driving a stick shift with neuropathy. Mom cherished and was so proud of her 4 grandchildren. She woke every morning, looked at their pictures near her bed and stated “Good morning grandchildren!” She was particularly satisfied over the years when they did something amazing and wonderful and made sure we knew that particular trait “always skipped a generation”. We were all better parents due to her keeping a close eye on our parenting skills and threatening “grammy has a lawyer” if we didn’t do our best. Her deep love and appreciation of nature and weather and seasons and the colors of the world never wavered. She continued to be appreciative every single day looking out her window, commenting on the type of day it was, the deer eating her bushes, the hummingbirds, wind, sun, the smell of the rain, the budding trees and greening grass and the neighborhood fox trotting down the street. Her quirky sense of humor and ability to laugh at herself were present until the end. She remained curious about people and the human condition and continued to perfect the art of teasing on anybody who passed her way including her wonderful and loving oncology team, dedicated and generous hospice team, friends, neighbors and family. We are deeply sad because we miss her. We are grateful for all the large and small things she taught us. We are honored to have witnessed her dignity a
