Joan Van Den Berg - Verloop I still can't believe that my dear friend Nancy is no longer with us. I think of her every day and miss her even more. Often I picture her lovely, pretty face and then I smile. She was warm and very special to me, and she made me feel even more special. She gave me her Halloween costume in 2013 which I wear every year, it will live on. Thank you Nancy, for being a part of my life, big hugs as usual

Liz Andersen We went to see the new bridge in Providence last fall, she had thought the state spent too much money and wasn’t really interested in going. We got lucky and found a parking spot right at the entrance and decided to go for a walk . Families were out and people were laughing. Nancy smiled and said “it really is beautiful “. We got a Dels lemonade and savored the view that day❤️

Nancy J Marcucci One of the many conversations I had with my mom these last several weeks is how proud she is of her family - children, grandchildren and the much loved spouses who were her kids as well. She felt this was her greatest accomplishment. She was always humble about the impact she had on making us the people we are today. As you will see in the many photos, her love was always present, advice and support there when needed and she always made sure we celebrated all the small and big moments together as a family. Mom we are so proud of you and love you very much. My oldest brother John told my mom “ you have filled our pockets with so many beautiful memories” we have them with us and you in our hearts everyday❤️

Two weeks ago it was my turn – “sit down I want to talk with you” – I sat at the side of her bed – she flat on her back looking at the ceiling. We reminisced about Barrington and how she and I would talk for hours. I was excused from attending the last two months of my senior year and I found sanctuary at 17 Martin Ave. Mrs. M would typically stan...

Mama Marcucci taught me how to play cards (a skill I still frequently use at parties to beat my friends). We used to play gin rummy for hours sitting outside in the backyard- don't worry, she never took it easy on me. Playing Spoons was one of my absolute favorite family traditions- even when she used her nails against the kids to make us drop the ...

Rebecka Marcucci My favorite memories of Grandma are from our time spent at the beach each summer. They were consistently the best 2 weeks of the year. Closely followed by making ravis with Grandma, Nannie, and Jessie in the her kitchen without mixing bowls- flour everywhere, only women allowed, and lots of discussions about the right way to make the ping

Marjorie Stein So many great explorations. Whenever we moved Nancy and I loaded Bex in the car and went on an adventure. This was the Whistle Stop Cafe from one of our favorite movies. I will so miss my exploration partner❤️

Isabella Robinson This may not be the most flattering photo of my legs or the most exciting photo of GG, but to me, this is my greatest memory of her. When thinking of GG I'll remember going up her stairs and looking at all the things she's collected from students and her travels, I'll remember gently opening her door and calling out her name (multiple times, she was always in the back cooking, reading, or moving a heavy object she could've asked for help with), and her immediately sitting down in her chair to chat. We would talk about our days, the Tony awards, her memories of her kids (I've heard some stories over and over again), or just how nice it was. I really will miss her house and all the beautiful things she owned that always had a story, I will miss the smell of an alcoholic drink and dinner being made, I will miss hearing her voice, and most of all I will miss her saying, "That's the story and I'm sticking to it. I love you GG, Bella

Her role was very important in our life. provided us will a place to live ; at first it was just that but soon realized after 12 years it was much more..... Sarah Robinson I have so many memories and it’s very hard to share just one but one that always makes me smile is when grandma was given a huge Christmas tree to decorate one year . David , pasha and I helped her get in the stand then we went off to do something else leaving my grandmother to Finnish decorating when the next thing we knew was the tree had fallen on top of her we quickly when to help it off of her as we heard her call out Of course we felt so bad but then we Looked real serious at us then we all laughed she had a smile on her face and said come on guys I knew she had a great idea! we took the tree outside we got in the drove down to the tree place down the street as we drove home with the new tree on the roof and family arrived at the house we all shouted out “ we took the tree for a trim” and that was grandma making the best Of a situation!!!

Shortly before she passed, Nancy reminded me of a day of wine tasting in OHIO. She had the brilliant ideas to buy Bex some goldfish. " They'll die soon and she'll like them" she convinced me. Well the fish were Koi and the damn things wouldn't die. I learned to question her lead, even though I often followed. 😍

My favorite memory of GG is when I walked home from school to my house and went up to her floor. She helped me when I needed it and always checked on me to make sure I was ok.

Nancy was my dear friend. We met while working side by side at Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare. We immediately bonded over our life chats. Nancy introduced me to her children who were pictured on her office wall. I heard stories about each one and felt I knew them all. Nancy impressed me with her strength as a woman. I admired her. I looked to her as a...

Nothing in Nancy's life could keep her down for very long, she always found her better self. She was the mother of the skiing Marcucci family. One memory I clearly remember was watching her with skis in hand walking down an extremely steep section of Cortina covered with ice while I comfortably got down the mountain in the gondola. Like I said, not...

Pasha Di Cicco Remembering and telling stories keep people alive. It’s what grandma did almost every day of her incredible life. For me, it was an integral part of being with her. I think she needed to create a “narration” of those she’d loved and of all the experiences she’d lived through- - both rough and amazing. These had shaped her and us as her privileged listeners. I loved listening to her funny, endearing, wise, intriguing anecdotes. She always answered all my questions— she understood my intense curiosity like nobody else. She indulged me as only a grandmother would. We shared opinions and enjoyed so many things together: movies, theater, music, art, travelling, good food ( especially what she cooked), looking for clothes like hats, scarves, jewelry— all better if second- hand/ vintage! She was at her best at the ocean, having fun and relaxed, but always in charge, vigilant. Her Hawkeye scanned the Atlantic waves for her wild kids, grand-kids, great-grandkids, even friends. We knew she had our back and grateful for it. I’ve inherited that way of hers now. I’ll always associate grandma with beach cottages, dunes, rocks, shells and sea glass, late-night card games, sand- filled beds (too tired to take a shower!) and her contagious laugh. I miss her “look” that shut you up as you started to whine— you knew where you stood with her. Most of all, I’ll remember and miss how special and loved I always felt with her, how present she was in my life ( in so many lives). I feel so lucky and grateful to have known and loved her. Your strong Native spirit soars and lives on in all the people you’ve touched. Miss and will always love you, Gram!

Gregory H. I remember cards at Mary Haley’s house in Rowley with lots of food and laughs.

Where do I begin …? We met on the first trip I made with Hamilton House to Iceland some years ago. While most people talked about wanting to go there but never made it, Nancy went there twice. She re-visited Iceland with her friend, Joanne, had a great time, telling me about having fun at horse-back riding. She was a world traveler. Yes, she’s a do...

Risa Gilpin Nancy o Nancy - what an honor it was to know Nancy - such a dedicated, warm, open-minded, liberal hearted, friend to all who came into contact with her. I got to know her as one of the many outstanding talented volunteer teachers who brought English for Speakers of Other Languages, through her accessible lessons to International House of Rhode Island - Cal and Nancy were the best team - conferring together and enjoying each others stories and approaches to language learning. I just learned of her passage and am so sad to hear this news. My deepest sympathy to family and friends

Joan Van Den Berg - Verloop

I remember Nancy and my mom, Barbara Muddiman being the best of friends. Barbara left us a few days ago to join the angels. I hope she and Nancy are together laughing and carrying on like they used to. There will be a celebration of life on 2/4/23 at the Unitarian Church in East Greenwich from 2-4pm. That would have been her 94th birthday. 💜
