Mike Hopkins

Prof. Michael John David passed away in Nairobi on Fri Sep 12 2025, at the age of 79. Mike's memory will forever live on in the hearts of family and friends. Known as Mike, Doctor, Dad, Pop, Grandad, Uncle, Lord B, Heho Hopkins. He died peacefully in hospital following a period of deteriorating health. Two separate events of remembrance will be held following his cremation in Nairobi on September 17th. The first will be at his favourite beach, Malindi, Kenya, on the shores of the Indian Ocean, date to be confirmed, and the second will take place at his family home in Petit Bornand, high in the French Alps & scene of many happy parties and gatherings, date to be confirmed. He leaves behind William & Eve, his son & daughter, and his grandchildren Célian, Laszlo, Sam and Luna. Michael will be missed both by his family, and by his huge network of friends, colleagues and students formed through his groundbreaking work in Corporate Social Responsibility as an academic, author and business consultant. Sa mémoire restera à jamais gravée dans le cœur de sa famille et de ses amis. Connu sous les noms de Mike, Doctor, Dad, Pop, Grandad, Uncle, Lord B, Heho Hopkins, il s’est éteint paisiblement à l’hôpital après une période de santé déclinante. Deux événements distincts pour célébrer sa vie auront lieu après sa crémation à Nairobi le 17 septembre. La première se tiendra sur sa plage préférée, à Malindi (Kenya), au bord de l’océan Indien, à une date qui sera confirmée, et la seconde se déroulera dans sa maison familiale du Petit-Bornand, perchée dans les Alpes françaises et lieu de nombreuses fêtes et rassemblements heureux, à une date également à confirmer. Il laisse derrière lui William et Eve, son fils et sa fille, ainsi que ses petits-enfants Célian, Laszlo, Sam et Luna. Mike manquera profondément à sa famille, ainsi qu’au vaste réseau d’amis, de collègues et d’étudiants qui s’était constitué à travers son travail novateur en Corporate Social Responsability, en tant qu’universitaire, auteur et consultant.
