    Margaret Christie Lennie

    05 Jun 1932 - 02 Jan 2014

Margaret Christie Lennie was born in Newhaven, a fishing village in Edinburgh, Scotland, on the 5th of June 1932. She sadly passed away in Anam Cara, Bray Park, Australia on 2nd January 2014 aged 81. Margaret’s parents were William and Isabella Carnie. She had two older brothers, Arthur and Frank, who have passed away, and a sister Helen in England who celebrated her 90th birthday in 2013. Until her family came along, Margaret did secretarial work with various companies. She later took on various part-time jobs. Before her retirement in 1989 she worked as a sales assistant for Marks and Spencer in Edinburgh. Margaret married Robert (Bob) Lennie on 4 July 1952. They had a long and happy life together until Bob died on 18 January 2000. They loved going to parties and celebrations and having holidays in sunny places. Margaret leaves behind five children: Robert, June, Gordon, Michael and Fiona, who are scattered around the world. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren in Scotland and the Falkland Islands and four step-grandchildren and eight step great- grandchildren in Australia. Margaret enjoyed laughing and having fun. Her big smile lit up her lovely face. She made things all her life and was very creative. After Margaret and Bob emigrated to Australia in 1989 they moved to Redcliffe where Margaret joined a quilters club. She made many beautiful quilts and did other craft work that her family will always treasure. Margaret had a beautiful spirit and was very brave in the face of her terrible illness. She kept her sense of humour until near the end. She was a kind, caring and cheerful woman who was loved and respected by her family and friends. She will be missed more than words can say.
