Leonardo Martinez's memory board

Leonardo Martinez was known as “Pete” by his family and friends. He was married to his wife Edna for 48 years. They met on March 29, 1970, when Edna was 16 and he was 19. They had three daughters, Clarissa, Melanie, and Alicia. Fabian joined the family when he married Clarissa. Jeffrey joined the family two years later when he married Melanie. Two wonderful grandchildren, Delilah and Justin completed the family. Pete loved his mother, Clara, and his brothers Norberto and Ralphie more than anything and he was very sad when they passed. But he soon realized that he now had a large, loving family when he married Edna. He was loved as a son and a brother by his in-laws and now had many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins. His wife would often tease him that he was a “suspicious-looking character” to anyone who didn’t know him, but to all the many that loved him, he was a shy man with a wonderful sense of humor. Pete was Edna’s best friend. She knew him as a gentle, kind, and caring man. Pete was the best father and loved his children very much. He was devoted to his family. He didn’t mind getting up in the middle of the night to pick up his girls if they needed a ride at three in the morning. He didn’t mind taking his wife to the mall and standing around for hours while she shopped. He enjoyed going fishing on his small boat. He enjoyed going to Coney Island, going to museums, going to the beach, breathing the ocean air, and taking long walks in the park. Pete should have been a farmer because he enjoyed yard work so much. He didn’t mind raking leaves in the fall. He had a childish enjoyment of everything around him. This endeared him to his family. Edna often said that the story of their life began when they met. A true love story began that day. It is love that will continue when Pete is resurrected as Jehovah promised us in Acts 24:15 “ And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there was going to be a resurrection of both
