A beautiful Service was held at Sacred Heart Church Fairway Drive Clear Island Waters, Gold Coast on Tuesday the 29th May 2012 at 10.30am. Helen was laid to rest with her darling Daughter 'Megan' at Allambe Memorial Gardens at Nerang Gold Coast. Approx 400 Friends farewelled Helen on this day and Kerry, Scott and leisl followed by Lyle & Mal welcomed and thanked all, with the following Eulogy. Lyle and Mal's words were Entertaining and Loving, depicting the 'lighter side' of our Dear Helen. The congregation applauded with glee! Scott will read to you:- ” I know we all feel a massive emptiness at the moment and I just wanted to share with you my thoughts on how I’ll remember one of the most special people I’ve ever come into contact with in my life. I love you both so, so much and I will be forever thankful for the opportunities you both gave me. You both opened your hearts, home and business to me over 8 years ago and became, as you know, my other ‘Mum & Dad’. I miss HD more and more with every day and although it hurts to have her gone, I know she is in a better place now. We all spent so many great times together from the breakfasts, lunches (OK maybe more just KD & I with that one!) and dinners, then to the casino jaunts (“House of Hell” as HD called it), the eventful Bundaberg trip, numerous Port Douglas trips, Elton John, Dr Phil, and so much more. She taught me so much, such as her favourite saying “Simon, timing is everything!”. I’ll love her with all my heart for as long as I live and I’m truly blessed to have known her as well as I did.” Helen’s Friends… You are all here today and I again thank you for your tribute and Friendship to our Dear Helen. All of you have, over the past 12 months forwarded Caring messages of Goodwill, Cards, Well Wishes, and Prayers. Thank you everyone. On behalf of the Family, I would like to tell you all about some very special Friends who lived, and worked close-by, luckily for us, and because of their closeness, almost daily supported us over the past 12 months helping Helen in her determination to heal! Firstly my Son Scott and His Wife Lisa, and Daughter Leisl (who hasn’t been well herself lately) and my Son In Law Darrell (SIL), who I just can’t tell you in ‘words’ how much love and support they continuously provided , but more particularly over the past 12 months! Secondly my Colleagues at Knobel & Davis, Darrell (My Marvellous SIL,) Lou, Julian & Simon who almost daily helped Helen with all kinds of support! John Ashmore and his wife Jill, Brett Laws, Tracey Berthold, Michelle, Chris Kahler &, Sue Place offering love and support continuously in-between their busy daily schedules to keep the Business flowing , and of course Todd, our Computer Genius, who Helen loved working with (I think they had a ‘Hi-Tech’ love affair over the years!) Thank You all from the bottom of our hearts! Furthermore, extra special close-by friends who supported Helen, providing nursing & loving companionship , Sandra & Brian Prendergast, Mary & Geoff Rapp, Mary helping me nurse Helen in later days at home, & Dear friend, Kay Abrams. Special mention to Bobbie & Dennis Begnell who held special Prayer Groups for Helen almost weekly since last June (tell the Tumour Story!)…. So many of our friends are inquisitive of Helen’s beloved Clogging… well, at the Italo club next door after the service in an hour or so the Girls are providing a ‘Clogging Tribute’ to Helen, so you’ll all see for yourselves the recreation Helen enjoyed so much! We Loved Dancing and Jived our hearts out from the early Sixties (50 years ago) Didn’t we Barry, Robyn? and she was still jigging at Clogging to the best of her ability 5/6 weeks ago!! God Bless her! To quote part of a poem by ‘Auden’ from a famous Movie:- She was my North, my South, my East and West, My working week and my Sunday rest, My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song; I thought that love would last for ever: It did, and was strong. (I’ve altered the last 3 words Colleen, Geoff!!) Thank you one and all for your company today, your love, support, your thoughts for our Family but above all, your Friendship. A lot of you would probably know this, but back in the Sixties when we were first married, and quickly had 3 beautiful children, we decided then to live life to the fullest and not save up for our old age or for any rainy days ahead!! I am so glad we achieved those Goals. We have had the BEST life together, Thank you my Darling
