The Lord used Sandie to guide me in my walk with Him when I was a new Believer. It meant so much to have her meet with me one-on-one as I read through the Book of John per her instruction. I was only age 15, but she had so much wisdom to share.

Marietta YeungSandie and I met in Ottawa. We shared an apartment during our second year of university.
It was a fun and memorable year. We took the bus to school; we studied; danced; laughed; slept
through a garbage room fire in the apartment building. For a few months, we babysat three kids in
the afternoon after school at a restaurant where meals were covered, we stuffed ourselves every
night. Those days were long, but we were full of energy. On weekends, we travelled around to shop
for cheap grocery deals. Sandie would make her signature peanut butter sauce noodle to share with
friends. Sandie is warm, friendly, kind, and easygoing. I’ve never seen her having a temper.
After graduation, we both left Canada, yet our paths crossed again in Tokyo. My husband and I were
walking along a Tokyo street during our honeymoon. We saw Sandie standing on a lamp post trying
to get a better glimpse of a parade. That was such a pleasant surprise. Sandie told us she was
getting married. I met up with Bill…Bill is not Asian. He didn’t speak Chinese! Sandie told me when
she came to Canada, she wasn’t comfortable getting into an elevator because people would start
talking to her. She would only respond by ‘I’m fine’, because she didn’t have enough language skills
to carry on a conversation. Love is a splendid thing!
One summer, Sandie and her family visited Toronto and stayed in my basement. The kids made
popcorn for movie night. Everyone had a great time.
We met in Hong Kong a few years ago. We chatted, laughed, and reminisced over dim sum lunch.
These fond memories will forever be in my heart.
Sandie, I will miss you. Rest in peace.17th August, 2025
Ken ChanDear Sandie,
As your journey as a follower of Jesus has drawn you to a now closer level of nearness to The Lord, know that you are much loved . You are someone who I remember as kind , consciencious , loving and an encourager; someone who genuinely was concerned and loved others with the love of Jesus. It’s seems such a long time ago in a different era of life with The Lord. As you’re now amongst the Saints who have gone before us , intercede upon our behalf to release heavenly sunshine to flood our souls with glory divine.
We’ll continue persevering as you set an example as a follower of Christ, and as The Lord wills, until we meet again in The Lord Jesus.
With greatest regards,
Ken
Ps . No need to still try and “match” me any more as well :)16th August, 2025
Kim TuckerI had the privilege of meeting Sandie at a Chaplain dinner with her husband Bill, whom I work with at Baylor. She was kind, gentle, spirited, and had a beautiful smile. After reading the memorial that Bill wrote, I can see the handiwork of God and his perfect timing. The beautiful life that you shared together is a testimony to all. Thank you for sharing your story. We will see her again!15th August, 2025
