Celebrating the life of

Caley Epstein

03 Apr 2002 - 18 Dec 2020

"The Story of Caley" is a virtual timeline for us to share stories, pictures, videos, and condolences about Cal as we grieve his loss and celebrate his life. Any postings from Cal's friends near and far in Portland, Hawaii, Tennessee, etc would be especially appreciated. Your words and pictures are a gift to us and bring us strength and joy. Cal shone brightly. He was a giving, caring, funny, clever, mischievous boy who saw it as his role to take care of others...making him an amazing friend. He had just returned from his first semester at the University of Hawaii and was happily making plans and seeing others. Like many teenage young men, he thought he was invincible and made a bad choice. As is becoming more common with kids/young adults of his generation, he sought a prescription pill (Oxy), perhaps to relieve some stress/anxiety. Evidence suggests the drug he took was a fake pill that was made with fentanyl, and the consequences of this poison were too much for his body. As a result we have had to say goodbye to our dear son, brother, cousin, grandson, nephew, friend. Consistent with Caley's giving nature, his organs have been donated to multiple recipients here in the Pacific Northwest where we hope he will live on for many years to come.
