Zane Groves

Zane’s death is an utter shock to us, his family and to all who new him. There are no words to describe the grief that is in our hearts and in our minds. On April 4th, 2020 Zane was and is the victim of a homicide in San Jose, CA. We don’t know what to say or where to start. Yet, we need a place where we can remember who he is to us (his immediate family) his extended family and to the numerous friends he has created throughout his 22 years of life. Zane was born on June 22 1997 to Steven and Echo Groves in Boise, Idaho. After graduating from Boise State University our family began a journey in the US Navy. We lived in Florida, Texas, Spain, California, Nevada, Japan, Hawaii, Italy & Virginia. He appreciated, as he attended UCSC, the experience he had had as a world traveler. Although moving was difficult due to leaving good friends it provided him the opportunity to have many friends all over the world. In his freshman year of college he had a friend that he had known, years earlier from Japan, living on the same floor he was on at their dorm! How cool is that! During his formative years Zane enjoyed music, sports, the outdoors and the ocean. He enjoyed the company of his sister Eden who is only 21 months younger. Zane continued his education at the University of California at Santa Cruz, studying Film and Digital Media. He graduated from high school in Sigonella, Sicily, Italy. He enjoyed being on his own, meeting life long friends and taking advantage of all that Santa Cruz had to offer. He is survived by his parents, Steven & Echo; sister, Eden; grandmother, LaRene & Chuck Rogers; uncle John; aunt Joddy; aunt Shelley & uncle Don; cousins Tanher, Keith, Zach & Rebecca, Brandy, Alex & Sam and Kaleb.
