William Ernest Vieritz

Beloved husband of Lucy, dearly loved father & father-in-law of Yvonne & Buck, Brenda & Tom, Gavin & Ena, & Rosalie & Gary. Adored Grandfather of Glenn, Mark, Amanda, Gai, Lisa & Faith. Bill served with the Australian Military Forces, 2/26 Aust Inf Battalion from 15 July 1940 to 11 January 1946 (for a total of 2007 days), which included Active Service in Australia for 96 days and outside of Australia for 1531 days. During this time Bill was taken prisoner by the Japanese Armed Forces in Singapore and was incarcerated in Changi Prison as a Prisoner of War for three & a half to four years. After his return home, Bill married Lucy & they purchased land at Ingleburn in about 1951 & proceeded to build their first home. Bill lived there with Lucy until his death in 1976. He has been sorely missed by his family since he departed this earth.
