    Celebrating the life of

    Wanda Grima

    29 Jul 1962 - 20 Aug 2015

In loving memory of a wonderful, inspiring, determined and beautiful person Wanda Grima (née Liszewski), who sadly passed away last Thursday at 1.30am, with family and friends by her side. As we are all aware, Wanda had been through various health complications throughout her life. At a young age she was diagnosed with type one diabetes whereby she had to administer five insulin injections per day. Fortunately for Wanda she was able to receive a kidney and pancreas transplant providing her a new lease on life and plenty of energy. Although this operation was a success, Wanda suffered a major stroke in her forties, which prevented her from being able to walk and along with many other side effects. If this wasn't enough, Wanda was diagnosed with lymphoma. She was treated with chemotherapy that proved to be successful. Once again Wanda overcame this condition however the chemotherapy damaged her kidney and pancreas to the point where both rejected and she had to be placed on dialysis for the remaining part of her life. Although Wanda went through such an ordeal she never once complained, nor did she ever give up hope as she remained calm, composed and positive no matter how serious the situation was. Wanda’s attitude to life was rare as she always had a smile for all those she met. Just one of her beautiful qualities that will be sorely missed by everyone. We would also like to pay homage to a very special person in Wanda’s life, Professor Jeremy Chapman. Professor Chapman has been incredible, keeping Wanda in good health for so many years right up until her last days. Professor Chapman and his team worked tirelessly, which resulted in extending Wanda’s life that allowed her to raise her children, experience the marriage of her son Matthew to Jess and enjoy the birth of her first grand daughter Olivia. In remembrance of Wanda, the family will be setting up a dedicated fund with all donations going towards Diabetes NSW. Anyone who is interested in donating money to this worthwhile cause in lieu of flowers, can do so on the Diabetes NSW website, this fund will be up and running shortly. Alternatively, envelopes will be available on the day of Wanda’s funeral for your kind donation. Wanda leaves behind a very loving family - her mother Gertrude, her husband Frank, son Matthew, daughters Danielle and Melissa, grand daughter Olivia, daughter-in-law Jess, Alex and Brendan, and her extended family. With all our love from the Grima family
