Family and friends
Tina Stark The first time I met Viktor was at the beach in Ljunghusen. He was a lovely little baby boy and I just arrived from Florence, Italy, where I spent a year as a baby-sitter. During my year in Italy, my parents Eva and Jan Omfors, had started to hang out with a lovely couple (Jonas and Ann-Sofie). This summer is a wonderful memory of mine! We had some great evenings with really good food and wine and singing in the garden. Since that summer I've always had a really good feeling thinking of the Svanberg family. I've kept in contact with Ann-Sofie, one way or the other, during the years, but Viktor found his happiness outside the country of Sweden and we didn't have much contact, until this december (2019) when I met him and his mother in Lund. It was a blessing to see them both. I did my practice (as a nurse) at the University hospital in Lund. I offered them my help, whenever it was needed, and hoped to see them soon again. I was also looking forward to meet Lala, the love of his life. Unfortunately I didn't get the oppurtunity to see him again, but tonight I met Lala :) Only on Facebook, but it still felt very good to "talk" to her. I send all my love to Lala and to Viktors family. He was a kind soul with so much love in him. The memory of Viktor will always be bright, clear and warm. Love, Tina.
Syarila Zainal Viktor Emanuel Svanberg was born on 15th March 1987, in Ljunghusen, Sweden. He has always been a foodie!
Ann-Sofie Svanberg Viktor with grandpa Lawe and cousin Patrik onboard grandpas sailinboat Brittilla
Ann-Sofie Svanberg Don’t know when or where but probably at home in Ljunghusen in 1991 or 1992
Philip Svanberg It was more apparent that you were my older brother when we were a bit younger. This was when we were visiting Momo and Mofa and drove go cart!
Philip Svanberg Viktor and Chip, the dog that made both Viktor and me into dog persons. A dog which I hope you get to play with alot more now. Swim in the ocean and chase rabbits all day long! Sitting together watching the sunsets over the water in a beautiful archipelago!
Ann-Sofie Svanberg In the cockpit of our 38 foot sailingboat Annila. And Viktor is 16 years old
Philip Svanberg Sailing, the thing that has shaped our family. We both have spend hundreds of hours sleeping in bunk beds next to eachother. Sailing with our family in Öresund and Blekinge archipelago.
Syarila Zainal Viktor celebrating his 21st birthday, in Auckland, New Zealand. I wasn't in his life then but I know he told me stories of how he had to drink 21 shots to commemorate his birthday. It was a hard morning after, but I know we both laughed so hard about it and I know Viktor didn't regret any bit of it! Love you babe. You're always so cute.
Gijs Lith We enthusiastically accepted every rush New Zealand had to offer: rugby matches, bungee jumping, late nights in the bar. Our skydiving trip was no different. Viktor jumped first, so I had to follow. I look back with great fondness and warmth on our adventures and pub nights. Viktor, you've been a great friend and I'm really going to miss you.
Lisa Klintegården Christmas 2008 at our grandparents. Growing up Svanberg and Perssons together with our grandparents always celebrated christmas together with strict traditions. Every day was and is still organised the same way beginning December 23 and ending December 26.

Syarila Zainal Viktor had always loved growing up in Skåne, Sweden. Wanting to explore the world outside of Sweden, he decided to pursue his post-college studies in Auckland University of Technology, in Auckland, New Zealand. That led to him doing an exchange program in Singapore. In Singapore, that was where he discovered his passion for marketing, advertising and the media space and began his career as a marketing professional.
Andriy T I first met Viktor during an internship at GroupM/Mindshare in Singapore 2010 and was shocked/saddened to learn about his recent passing. Some of my fondest memories with Viktor were playing football until the late hours of the night with "the crew" (Joel, Gary, Benny, David, Marcus, Faisal. etc) Viktor was an incredibly smart, open-minded individual who you could have a conversation with on just about any topic! I was also always struck by his strong sense of integrity and morals... he led by example in everything that he did. May he RIP. - Andriy (Alberta, Canada)
Dearest Vic, Will miss the times we play football together. I will not forget the laughter and joy you brought to our games and your powerful shots. I will also cherish the memories of the late nights playing video games with the whole group, our trip to Port Dickson and several more. One thing for sure, our group is going to laugh less without ...
Joel Kumar The fledgling days of the fabled old guards. Your first friends in Singapore. The times we had, from weekly football, EPL screenings, FIFA/Poker nights (which you magnanimously hosted) random and frequent trips across border, to seafood dinners fit for a royal banquet. All stuff of legends. Time and commitments may have pulled us all apart as we left our swinging 20s behind, but you will always be remembered as our gracious benevolent viking who never shied away from our random adventures or a drink or 2. Viktor silently tiptoed into our world, but what an imprint his footsteps have left upon many of us. Here's a toast, from us, for a decade's long friendship, for the great memories. Goodnight, my friend.
Gary Puan A decade of friendship. The times we had at football games, watching the world Cup together and gatherings at your place. The great times we had together with the old guards. You will always be remembered as a good friend, kind hearted person who always have a smile on your face. Goodnight my friend, you will always be in our memories. #Gary, #Jothi, #Benny, #Jackie, #Marcus, #Faisal, #David
Joel Kumar Inaugural Winning Eleven/FIFA tournament hosted by Viktor. Camera shy by nature (then at least) we managed to snap one of him vigorously working on a spreadsheet complete with real-time goal updates, table standings yellow/red card accumulators, the whole shebang. It was his thing! The tournaments were so intense the neighbors thought there was a live match going on...😂 Shout out to Faisal for magnanimously sponsoring our inaugural Champions cup, a fun-sized trophy he won during his primary school sports meet, to big Benny for.. um presenting it to scrawny young me... and to the ever accommodating host of course, Viktor. Yes, we took our FIFA tournaments very seriously!! Football will go on to be our key unifying factor well into our thirties, be it via gaming, live screenings or down and dirty on the pitch itself. We would go on to have 14 tournaments over the next year or so, the quality of the trophies did gradually improve, the quality of the competitors.... not so much...
Benny Chew Every drop reminds me of the moment well spent with you brother.
Hey Viktor :) Forgive me for not finding a picture of us together; but my memory of us as close friends back when we started working is so clear. My favourite memory with you? You know what I'm going to say: sneaking up to the rooftop pool after work together, drinking whisky, talking for HOURS. We were so carefree and young! I'm so glad you had a ...
I was colleagues with Viktor during my time at Mindshare 2010-2012. we were not super close but I remember him as an always positive, gentle, smart and inclusive person, and appreciated by everyone around him. It’s devastating to learn that he passed away and his and Lala‘s life plans were shattered. I admire her courage and hope Viktor will be re...
Mashurie Mohtar Viktor, Jiying, Tanja and I were the selected few to represent Mindshare Singapore at inaugural Accelerate Programme in Phuket. This was at the final presentation / awards dinner on our last night there. If my memory served me well, Viktor’s team were amongst the TOP 3 finalists. Superstar!
We first met at one of our regular football games that Joel organized. You were probably one of the better players there! I know if Jose, Jet, Muru, Faisal, Jackie or Marcus reads this they would agree with me too.. We will always have our football days sir.. we miss you and we know you're in a better place..
Lisa Klintegården Viktor visiting the Persson sisters in Jönköping. I guess he lived in Singapor at the time.
Leroy Chua Super fun Clear channel competition Viktor, Vitya, Rachel and I decided to participate in. Drove around the entire Singapore and ended up in RWS, Sentosa. Even though we did not win anything, we ended up having so much fun hanging out together.
Bertina Cheng Viktor was always such a sport. This was our first run together during the Nike We Run Singapore race on 3 November 2013, when we worked on the account together at Mindshare Singapore. Viktor, you have fought the good fight, you have finished the race. You will always be loved and remembered. Rest, and may you always be at peace at Home.
Leroy Chua Hustling to a HSBC meeting on a typical WIP day. Days when we worked on CIMB and Wealth Management business and Viktor was a core to the team and well loved by the clients.
Bertina Cheng Always such a fun and enjoyable time over drinks and celebrations with the team! Cheers to you and your fun-loving spirit, Viktor!
Leroy Chua Countless of soccer sessions I had with Vik. He has one of the most wicked left foot that always sends the pole rattling. Love the days we played soccer together!
David Lee Viktor and the gang - Joel, Faisal, Mark, and Jacqi - sent us off to Toronto. It was 4 am in the morning and all the gents helped us carrying heavy luggage. It was fun yet emotional. Who would have thought that it was the last time Jessie and I met Viktor? Farewell, my friend! Our condolences!
Bertina Cheng Vik was such an awesome member of the team - really enjoyed the time we worked alongside each other. So much tenacity, hard work and dedication. Thank you for always being a source of positivity and encouragement. <3
Leroy Chua Dinner with the Hogarth guys. This was one hilarious picture because we totally do not know the lady in red. She just totally photo bombed us! LOL
Leroy Chua Team James outing at East Coast Park. Was a super lovely time and I remember Viktor was enjoying his beer so much during the hot day!
Vishnu Madhusoodanan I met Viktor for the first time during one of the soccer sessions organised by Joel. He really amazed me with his soccer skills. He is also a very down to earth person. Till date and forever would consider myself to be lucky to have played with a nice human like Viktor. Will miss him
Syafiq Rahman I will always treasure our football sessions together, seeing you run nonstop also inspired me to keep on keeping on. And beyond that, thank you for taking the time to offer me work advice when you really didn't have to. That meant a lot. Take care brother. I thank Joel, Muru, Jose and the rest of the OG soccer guys for inviting me along, that's how I remember you.
Bertina Cheng This was a farewell celebration on my last day of work at Mindshare Singapore. Here's bidding you farewell, Viktor, till we meet again! <3
Leroy Chua Viktor was a great golf coach. Always helping Meng Lye and me to correct our swings and postures. Always amazed by how perfect and far he can hit the ball at the driving range.
Nursyamsiah Shamsuddin Viktor was always there when I was down or stressed with work. He is not just a colleague, but a very dear friend. He was a foodie, and never afraid of trying new food even from a street vendor in Malaysia. Thank you Viktor for your friendship <3
Ronald Tiong I will never forget the great time we had as a trio!!
Yorino Tasaka Dear Viktor, our friendship remains forever. Remember that night in Hokkaido? Let’s have lots of sake and salmon roe together again. But please don’t forget your backpack 😉 We miss you very much. Thank you for being our good friend.
Ronald Tiong Viktor was one of the coolest mates I've ever met. We would help each other with our assignments and shared notes on how to write our essays! I've enjoyed going to Japan with him and was hoping we could return for a 2nd trip and enjoy each other's company even more! You'll be sorely missed dear great friend. May you rest in peace!
Syarila Zainal We met on Tinder, a popular social dating app, days before we decided to meet in person on a Tuesday, 15th Dec 2015! That first date turned out to be really fun! On Friday of the same week, we had our amazing second date which lasted for 3 days! On 19th Dec 2015, Viktor asked me if I would be his girlfriend. And we were inseparable since then.
Syarila Zainal Celebrating my 27th birthday with amazing steak. We had such a great date together! Finished off with a nice wine at Wine Connection after. :) You always spoiled me. This was the first birthday of mine that we celebrated and you raised the bar SO high. Thank you for treating me like a Queen. I never always deserved it, but you kept trying to convince me anyway. Babe, you have succeeded like no other man. Thank you.
Syarila Zainal Our first Ball together, specifically the Aussie Ball. We had to go for a photoshoot available at the event which resulted in this memorable photo of us and a couple of new friends we made. :D
Precious Grace Hipolito At Viktor’s place. First house party 🥳 that turn into a crazy pool party.
Alvaro Sanchez Another great dinner with Viktor and Lala. We would gang up on Lala sometimes to get a rise out of her, then it would be my turn. We never thought to gang up on him but always wanted him in our team. Viktor was one of the most thoughtful people I have ever encountered. Gentle but strong, and very patient and understanding. This Picture was the profile pic of the Whatsapp group where Viktor, Lala and I communicated. We started it back in 2016, and on the last count it contains 2849 pictures in total. We would share beautiful sunsets, visits to exotic countries, or memes and funny pics. Viktor and Lala were like family. I wish I'd taken up more of their invitations to dinner. Rest in peace my dear friend. Thank you for all the light, compassion and love you shared so selflessly with the people around you.
Precious Grace Hipolito Viktor and Lala travelling all the way to downtown east to celebrate 🎉 my birthday and meet my other friendsz
Jieqi Jacky Cai Hey Viktor, this is the 10th year we have known each other! From the first time we met up during the middle of 2010 and now is already 2020. Time flies so fast. From a group of soccer kakis, to food hunters that would travel all the way to JB past midnight, to our overnight FIFA tournament at 3 different apartments of yours and to watching late night EPL matches, our fun times together were like the highlights of our weeks! Thanks for being a good friend, jokes buddy and brother throughout these 10years of my life! And thanks to you for encouraging me when I was down, saying everything gonna be all right..There were so much fun and laughters when we were hanging out together! Yes, you will always be with us in our hearts and minds! All these good memories are still as fresh and will stay with us for the rest of our lives! For now, good night, my brother! With love from Derek, John, Jothi, your wife Lala, Jieqi
Cajaa Persson Christmas Eve 2016 ❤️
Meng Lye Liu The time when we made the effort to travel to Batam for a game of golf. Enjoy beer under the scorching Sun. My memory of you will always be the great company. Thanks for having me as part of your life dude. You are dearly missed.
Syarila Zainal Viktor helped me organise for a chill belated birthday party for my 28th birthday with my friends, at Changi Beach. We ordered mini sliders from Fat Boy’s Burger Bar and invited several of our close friends over to enjoy some good times and drinks with us! We booked a BBQ pit to just secure a spot that would allow us to drink publicly in the park till 6am (?)! It was a great day, and our dear friend Erwin helped us so much with regards to transportation and carrying all the ice over! Viktor really enjoyed the wind but the wind kept blowing all of our paper cups away!
Precious Grace Hipolito Our first work out together at 9am in the morning
Precious Grace Hipolito Viktor enjoying the food at Alter Ego.
Dora Kuo Viktor constantly tells me at work how cool and amazing his girlfriend is and that I should meet her. We decided to organize a MacRitchie walk together and true enough, after spending a morning together I had told him “Viktor, your gf is cool!” That big and proud smile on his face :-)
Cheryl Chia Viktor was the kindest and sweetest man I’ve ever known. Here’s a photo of us from my 27th birthday where we all had an awesome dinner with curry pork knuckle that he (and Syarila) said reminded him of non-halal rendang! I think all of us still think of that dish today, haha! After that we all headed out and got really happy with too many drinks and laughed our heads off talking about “sotong sex”. It was truly a fun night and a memory I’ll cherish. I’ll miss you and I’ll still try to insert ABBA lyrics where I can into our conversations when I see you again. Love, Cheryl
Dora Kuo The HOTTEST and SPICIEST double date ever! Viktor took us to challenge the spiciest chicken wings in Singapore.
Precious Grace Hipolito Viktor and Lala’s housewarming party 🎉 . We are all so happy catching up until the house guard advise us to lower down our voice. Such a fun memory.
Syarila Zainal We had a YOLO trip to Tioman Island. One day when you were at work, I asked you if you had plans for May... you said nothing. I told you I would take us for a 4D3N trip to Pulau Tioman. We both had never been there, so why not? I made all the bookings. Told you that it was my treat. It turned out to be a shitty weather for most of our days.. even though weather forecast said that it would be the best time to visit. We mostly ate potato chips and drank wine and beer for sustenance since we didn't like the food there. We rented a scooter and managed to get to the other side of the island, and found this hotel with a decent bar/restaurant. I am just missing you so much, and your beautiful serene smile, when you feel like you're at the top of the world. I am always in love with your smile. I miss you so much. You are my true soulmate. Being with you, makes me so complete.
Rachel Ho Heja Sverige! It was FIFA 2018. Viktor and Lala were all geared up in their Swedish Soccer wear. Viktor was so excited for the Swedish Soccer matches. I remember the happy cheers and boos of that night. Viktor really takes pride in Sweden.
Eu Jin Tan During our soccer games, we always wondered if Viktor was left or right footed? Perhaps his left foot shot was a little harder, but his right foot was a bit more precise. But one thing that we never doubted, was that his heart was stronger than any foot could ever be. He never failed to catch up on our lives before the match, and ended it with a hearty fist bump and good game after. Anything else in between was no-holds-barred as he sent searing Swedish strike after strike into the roof of the net. Today would be the last time you graced the cherished greens of Balestier. Legend, you will be missed. From the O.G. football boys, Muru, Jet, Joel, Jose
Syarila Zainal So happy to surprise Viktor with a ticket to see his favourite Arsenal in action (versus PSG - Paris St-Germain) for the first time in his life, 2 years ago. He was so happy. I would give anything just to see him smile. He’s always been so cherished and spoiled.
Syarila Zainal Viktor had always spoiled me to bits especially when it came to food. I remember I was so shocked when I saw this tiered assemble for our tea time. I told him I wanted to reserve my stomach for dinner. He just gently told me, as he normally would, “Babe, just eat whatever you can lah. Don’t stress. Just enjoy.” 😅 Think he ate most of it anyway, haha.
Janelle Yan My first time meeting Viktor after having heard Lala go on and on about her dream man. We got on so well and a few months later, we would return for our first ever double date together.
Rachel Ho We had a fun Beach Party with Blue Someritas when Lala won a contest at No.5 Emerald Hill!
Brandon Tan To Viktor, First time met him was at soccer futsal over at Singapore Indian Association in Balestier, he give me a deep impression, because he keep running up and down the pitch without stopping to rest, man this guy really got high level of stamina 😂. His determination and perseverance also impress me. Once I remember we were down to 3 goals to 5 winning goals game, but he never give up, and keep encourage the team to keep fighting, in the end we beat the opponent by 4-5. Even to a friendly game, he will always try to keep the game lively. I admired his spirit in this. He's now somewhere better, he will always be in our memories. Viktor, A good husband, A good man, A good soccer teammate, A good friend. From Geats
Rachel Ho Our first run together! Viktor is really so sweet to want to join in the activities that Lala loves. We YOLO-ed together that day with a 10km run that was reported to be shorter than 10km. Haha
Rachel Ho We were Team BallbasaurusRex in the 42km Marathon Relay! The hardest route so far at our Palawan Green. Viktor was a gentleman to be the last runner. He cheered us on. He ran so quickly (and impressively) and helped our team to make it through to the qualifying timings.
Precious Grace Hipolito You see how Viktor enjoys working out.. Full smile even after an hour of kickboxing
Leon Lai Our very first double date with Viktor and Lala. I remember I was trying to impress Viktor, and had a great sense of satisfaction when I managed to make him laugh. Turns out we were both Arsenal fans :)
Janelle Yan Celebrating Viktor's and Lala's engagement in style...
Syarila Zainal A day before Valentine's Day, Viktor popped the question. "Syarila, will you marry me?" Of course I said YES.
Syarila Zainal The Svanberg brothers raving over their 1.2kg Wagyu Bone-In Ribeye steak for our small, intimate wedding dinner! Always cracks me up when I see this picture as we both have always been so passionate about steak. We are both CRAZY steak fans, our friends would know! One of my first questions to Viktor on our first date was, "How do you like your steak?" Needless to say, he passed my steak test! Our wedding dinner was no different!! Steak, champagne, and wine. Phew!
Meharunnisa Begum I was so happy for Lala & Vik. Eventhough i know Vik for a short while. I can feel his warmth and welcome when I first saw him. And when Lala break the news that she is getting married to Vik,is a blessing for them both. And Lala really is a resourceful person. I am proud to br part of her preps..hehehe. And what amaze me was she even manage to get the Baju Melayu for Vik complete with the Songkok and Samping. As for me and Iz,it was our first time attending a Malay Minah and a Swedish Man wedding. We were so looking forward to attend it. Looking back at the memories, thru out the wedding Vik is always seen putting on a smile despite his tiredness. Thank you for making us part of your happy moments.
Syarila Zainal We got married on 1st May 2019. It was a public holiday in Singapore so our closest family and friends could attend our wedding. It was held in Blue Jasmine, Farrer Park Hotel Singapore. We held our small intimate wedding dinner only attended by our family members, in Opus Steakhouse, Hilton Singapore. At least the bride could get her desired steak and champagne! It was such a joyous day for us all. Even though Viktor was so tired due to his intensive chemotherapy treatment, he pressed on. We stayed up till 1am... and had a good slumber after!
Syarila Zainal Maintaining the "halal gap" when we arrived to our solemnisation ceremony. Viktor looked so happy in the traditional Malay costume... meanwhile I was like, "Hmmm do people really think we're still virgins by now...? Lol" Holding the flowers helped prevent me from reaching out for his hands!
Alvaro Sanchez Hi Viktor, your memorial page has a limit on characters, wth right? With this picture of the two of us enjoying some great coffees, I wanted to express in this public page how grateful I am to you for letting me be part of your life. Your strength, depth of character, and wisdom far beyond your years (or mine) were only eclipsed by the love you so unconditionally gave. You are the strongest person I have ever met, an unimaginably amazing husband to my dearest friend, and a patient and loving friend. I admire how unmovable you were in your resolve, when you decided Lala was the one, you went all in, when you had to face hard times, be it for employment uncertainties or a deadly disease, you faced it all with calm, strength, and deep love and consideration for the people around you. I remember I would joke about you being a Viking, well, my friend, you would have made the bravest Viking proud. Your actions taught me, and continue to teach so much, you lived with intention, you skipped talking the talk and just go ahead and walk it! The world's better because you lived in it. You will be sorely missed, yet all you have given lives on in all of us. I has been a privilege my friend. Love Always.
Syarila Zainal Even though Viktor was losing hair from intensive cancer radiation therapy, he was still doing his best to go to the gym. I made sure it was done in a safe, non-stressful environment. We had always loved going to the gym and being fit together. ❤️ Cancer did not stop Viktor from trying! You’re my inspiration whenever I feel like giving up. You never did. I love you so much, babe. ❤️
Precious Grace Hipolito Viktor having such a happy soul. No matter what circumstances he always give you his best smile. Him being calm is what I admire him the most. Rest in peace my dear friend you will be missed. 💚💚💚
Syarila Zainal Amazing seafood feast with Janelle and Leon! So many double dates together, especially with food. Easy Coast Lagoon is one of the favourite places Viktor and I loved to go for a great feast, seafood, beers and a beautiful relaxing, casual beach vibe. For this night, I even managed to bring a bottle of red wine from home for us to indulge in (excluding Viktor due to medication). It was a great night! We ended the dinner feast with a bit of a seaside stroll. Bliss. ❤️
Cajaa Persson Visited Viktor & Lala just when they moved to Sweden 💙💛
Rachel Ho We enjoyed the stories that Viktor shared about his growing up years, as we saw and walked through the very places where Viktor grew up in Ljunghusen, Sweden. Viktor took pride in showing us his favourite childhood hometown Ljunghusen beach! We now call it Viktor’s Strand! (Strand is “Beach” in Swedish.) Viktor taught us a couple of Swedish words too. We had a nice relaxing stroll on Viktor’s Beach and also had a little forest adventure at the edge of Malmö Sweden. These are precious moments! We also FIKA-ed (had a break) at the best cafe in Malmö called Lilla Kafferosteriet. In the evening, we had delicious BBQ chicken and BBQ ribs with spicy sauce and potato salad, wine and special non alcoholic drinks at Viktor and Syarila’s cosy apartment. We had a wonderful time with so much laughters and hearty conversations that day. We had a lot of fun together and it was very memorable. Viktor’s childhood beach is the most special beach on earth to us right now!
Lisa Klintegården Weekend in Malmö. Visiting Disgusting Food Museum, which was very interesting. You could try eating dried magots or dried locust. Viktor did not want to taste the old insects, but he lauged when Erik and I took a bite of the creapy creaps ❤️
Syarila Zainal You bring out the best in me. Together with my dear friends, we crossed the finish line for OUR FIRST EVER FULL MARATHON. It was the Standard Chartered Marathon 2019. Every centimeter of those 42.195km, covered. All the training, all the months of eating well, was worth it! My thoughts of you, and how you kept fighting cancer, kept me going even though my legs were hurting from all the pounding. I only managed to do it, because I wanted to make you proud. I wanted to show you that it could be done. That it was not impossible. We did it together, babe.
Syarila Zainal Our 4th dating anniversary! We know it's cheesy but we celebrate every 19th of every month. It's our monthsary! And 19th December 2019 was our 4th year of being officially together and the date meant a lot to us. This time, we celebrated at an amazing restaurant called Lusana. He had ribeye steak (of course) and I opted for veal tenderloin this time.
Syarila Zainal Viktor and I went with the family to Cabo de Sao Vincente, which was the southwesternmost point of Portugal and of mainland Europe. It was a sight to behold. Viktor was so, so amazed, watching the huge waves hit against the rock wall. Magnificent place to be!
Syarila Zainal Our First Christmas kiss for 2019 at Viktor's parents home in beautiful Portimaō, Portugal. Boy, did we travel!
Syarila Zainal We had lunch with family friends at a beach restaurant in Portimão, Portugal. Even when he was battling a hard fight against terminal brain cancer, he still kept his hobby of photography. He was so excited about his giant prawn lunch, and I was soooo jealous. He was kind enough to share a bite of it to let me have a taste - but nothing more!! 🤣
Syarila Zainal Moving in to our new apartment in Malmö, Sweden. Absolutely no furniture! Not even lighting! No chair! While waiting for the things to be delivered from IKEA, we had to lay on the cold bare floor together to rest. Still cracks me up that we had fun even with absolutely nothing but rolled up pillows, still in plastic!
Syarila Zainal One of Viktor’s favourite things to eat, is my homemade burger. He would normally eat two, at least! Look at how happy he was. He would drink a Heineken Zero, since I didn’t allow him to drink alcohol when on medication. I miss that smile. ❤️
Syarila Zainal Our first Wedding Anniversary Dinner! Since it was during the Covid-19 pandemic, we decided to have a fancy dinner at home, with the help of Viktor's brother, being our personal chef for the day. Needless to say, it was a dinner that I'll never forget in my life. It was everything, and more.
Syarila Zainal Viktor, painting a portrait of us, on his own ❤️
Syarila Zainal First trip for us as a couple to Bokskogen! 😍 A beautiful forest full of towering beech trees. We had fika over there, taking in the cool fresh air. I was just happy wondering around the trees and appreciating more of the Swedish nature. ❤️
Syarila Zainal Today, we made our first cardamom rolls together, with the help of my brother-in-law, and think they were such a great success!
Syarila Zainal Babe, I went to visit you at your resting place. I took your old bus 100, to get myself from Malmö to Stora Hammar Church. I visited the supermarket that you grew up going to, to get your groceries. It started to rain heavily and I didn't bring a rain jacket, so I could not stay too long. But it was helpful for me to come, to touch the soil that covered your physical body. I cried, as I saw your name written on the temporary tombstone... I wept, as I thought of our lives, my grief, my missing you, and our future, robbed. I miss you so much, and I miss you every day. I am so hurt by your passing. I want to feel your hugs and kisses again. Just the touch of your hands. I just miss you. I feel so alone. My heart feels so broken apart. Just wrecked.
Syarila Zainal Your family and I went down to your favourite beach in the world, the Ljunghusen Beach, where you grew up as a child. We felt the wind in our hair, as we walked down the memory lane. Many memories shared here, and I know you were always so excited to take me here. "The sand is the softest, whitest in the world!" That's what you said. This day, we scattered flowers to the ocean, thinking of you. Just you. After that, all four of us had burgers at the beach restaurant... you would have loved the bacon cheeseburger. I know you would. I had a Brooklyn IPA because you know, your waifu does enjoy her IPA when she eats a burger! That will NEVER change! I love you, babe.
Syarila Zainal Hey babe. I feel so grateful and blessed that I am able to come and see you with the tombstone installed finally. We had to wait for a while before the ground settled down and finally it did in August this year. I haven't seen you in a while. Each time when I think about you, I cry and I know that it is never going to be the same ever again. It is not good to look back in the past too much, or make comparisons, and wish for things that are impossible. I miss you. The feeling that we shared about each other, was something that no one and time could ever take away from us. I know that you're always looking out for me. Sometimes I feel alone and vulnerable, and I think that I don't have much to offer or live for. But I know that it's also an untrue statement... I just have to keep reminding myself. You used to be my rock, my anchor. I have to learn to live with myself and be strong. It will take time, but I hope that I will be more patient and kind towards myself, as you were to me. I love you, and I miss you. I'll find my way and I hope that our paths would cross again someday. I am so sorry if I have ever done anything to hurt you. There's so many things that I wish we could have done. Thank you for loving me, and I am so happy we were together for as long as we did. I wish that we had more time.
