Tony Curtis, born Bernard Schwartz, was an American film actor who passed away at the age of 85 due to a cardiac arrest. He was best known for his roles in "The Defiant Ones" for which he was nominated for an Oscar, "Some Like It Hot" with Marilyn Monroe, and "Spartacus." He starred in over 100 movies during the course of his career. Born 1925 in Manhattan, New York, he arrived in Hollywood at the age of 25. When he was placed under contract at Universal Pictures, he changed his name from Bernard Schwartz to Tony Curtis. Curtis was nominated for an Oscar in “The Defiant Ones” in 1958 but one of his most famous movies was “Some Like it Hot” from 1959. He also starred in the 1960 Stanley Kubrick drama “Spartacus” playing the role of slave Antonius, co-starring Kirk Douglas and Laurence Olivier.
