Tamara “Tammy” Faye LaValley Bakker Messner was an American Christian singer, evangelist, entrepreneur, author, talk show host, and television personality who passed away at the age of 65 from colon cancer which had spread to her lungs. She is best known for her show "PTL" and for her reality show "The Surreal Life." She was also known for wearing excessive amounts of makeup. Born 1942 in International Falls, Minnesota, she co-founded the Praise the Lord (PTL) Club show with her then-husband Jim Bakker in 1975. In 1996 Bakker Messner published her autobiography, "Tammy: Telling It My Way." Then that same year she co-hosted a TV talk show, "The Jim J. and Tammy Faye Show" with Jim J. Bullock. In 2003 Bakker Messner published her second autobiography, "I Will Survive... and You Will, Too!"
