Stephen was born on August 26, 1966, in Subiaco, WA. Delivered to Marion Murphy, he was deeply loved and nurtured by his devoted grandparents, whose care played a pivotal role in his upbringing. Growing up alongside his sister Annette, Stephen’s childhood was shaped by the support and love of his extended family. Stephen shared a remarkable history with his wife, Julie, dating back to their teenage years. Meeting at 16, their connection blossomed while working together in a bakery, and Stephen became a part of the Mattin family from a young age. On 13 February 1988, Stephen and Julie married in Wanneroo, solidifying a bond that had grown through years of love and friendship. Together, they raised three children—Sarah, Paul, and James—and created a life filled with warmth, laughter, and enduring love. Professionally, Stephen worked in the food service industry, specialising in sales. Highly regarded in his field, he was known for his integrity, professionalism, and the ability to form lasting friendships. His natural charm and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. Stephen cherished the time spent with his family, whether it was celebrating milestones or enjoying memorable holidays. He especially loved their trips to abroad, where he and Julie shared their passion for travel and culture with their children. In his later years, Stephen faced illness with immense strength and resilience, inspiring those around him with his courage and determination.
