Sarah Lyell Sophia, me, and our cousin Jacob when we were little. I’m guessing around 2003-2004

I had the pleasure of having Sophia for 2 years in Yeshivat Noar (Young Adults) at our Synagogue. Our discussions were always wide ranging and at times quite spirited. No matter what her personal opinion was, Sophia was not only engaged but quite passionate in her views, outlook, and beliefs. At times I would take a contrary position to give Sop...

Taylor Riley Sophia and I used to walk after school together everyday singing one direction music on repeat! And I remember when we she took me to my first concert ever and we were so obsessed and crazy that we decided to wear prom dresses to it, I will never forget any of these moments or memories.

Deirdre Lyell Sophia knew every Hamilton lyric. After the show we waited by the stage door for what felt like forever, but it was worth it. Not only did we see multiple actors up close, but "Hamilton" and "King George" spoke with Sophia, Izzy and Ollie for a while (Sophie's speaking to Hamilton in one photo). There are moments that the words don't reach.

Erika Neustadt It took me 6 months to build up the courage to write this because I didn’t want to believe it and I had so many emotions I didn’t know what to say. But i guess in simple words, Sophia was and still is my best friend. She was the most vibrant and amazing person I knew and always lived life to the fullest. She pulled me out of my comfort zone in ways I could never imagine. Like going to 2 different ikeas in one day that were 2 and a half hours from each other, or going to spend 2 months at a summer camp, or going to a minimum of 1 concert a year. We had so many amazing adventures and have so many memories that even now i look back and laugh because she just made me laugh the hardest I have ever laughed. She always knew what to say when I was feeling at my worst. We could basically read each others mind. No words can describe my pain of loosing my soul sister. I love you so much, Sophia and no matter what, you will always my best friend and my sister. Rest easy ❤️

Amanda Abramovitz Sophia and I first messaged/met because we wanted to move a "mandatory" student convocation event that UCI scheduled on Yom Kippur. Together we made this change happen. We joined Hillel the same day and were besties ever since. She encouraged and inspired me. Talked me out of stressing for finals and into hardwood floors when online apartment hunting. I wish school wasn't virtual so we could've taken pictures together. The convocation was a welcome week for transfer students. It was Sophia who made me feel at home with her smile, her sass, and her spirit which will always be with me.

Sarah Wood I known Sophia for my whole life. She’s a kind, sweet, funny, smart and fun to be around. I loved making memories with her and seeing her grow up. She’s has been a great best friend to me. Sophia knows how to make me smile and tells me everything will be ok. We went on so many trips together. My favorite memory of her is when we build a fort house in her living room and slept in it when we were little. I will miss you so much Sophia. Thanks for being a good best friend to me. I love you so much. Love, Sarah Wood

peggy wood Enjoying one of the many Chanukah celebrations we have been able to share with the Boisa family. Sophia was always happy to enlighten and educate us on the customs and teachings of the Jewish religion. Grateful to have shared so many with her.

Emily Wood We all got dressed up for my mom’s birthday and Sophia was nice enough to join. I remember when she was young she used to say she had an older brother in far far away land, when I asked where that was she said past Sacramento 😆

miriam b. Sweet story and great photo, thanks for sharing Emily.

Sophia was one of my favorite students at Lincoln high school. She took French with me just prior to going to Israel for 6 months. Always enthusiastic, smiling, engaging and thoughtful, she was a pleasure to have as a student. She understood the importance of and the joy of knowing the world beyond our borders. I am very sad to learn of her passin...
