Welcome to a celebration of Sheila's life. Sheila was born in Sheffield to John & Dorothy Wait, the youngest of 8 children - Bill, Kath, Joan, Ron, Jack, Dolly & George. She always talked warmly of being part of a loving and supportive family, with older brothers and sisters often sharing in her upbringing, helping with decisions and encouragement. Sheila excelled at school passing for the local Grammar School. She met her dear friend Shirley here and they remained friends throughout life. Sheila loved ballet and was the lead in Alice in Wonderland whilst at school. Sheila enjoyed music and dancing in her young life and loved creating fashionable outfits and hairstyles and was certainly considered a very beautiful and accomplished young lady. She completed intensive training with the Post Office where again she made many friends. Much of this young adult life was shared with Rob, who quickly realised his great fortune and they married on the 13th September 1958. Sheila & Rob worked and saved hard for their first home in Sheffield where they started their family with Mike and Nick. Many happy days for a young and lovely family. In 1965 they moved to Poole in Dorset where due to Sheila’s charm and astute thinking they secured a lovely home very close to the sea in Poole Harbour. Her youngest child Richard joined the family in 1973 happily delaying the inevitable empty nest for a few more years. Sheila successfully completed Teacher Training as a mature student whilst running a busy family home, ably assisted by Rob. Both were thrilled when they became grandparents to Anna, Mikey, William, Harry and Bella. Sad times were also felt at the devastating loss of her son Nick in 2017 when he was cruelly parted from his young family. Despite this and any other of life’s setbacks Sheila generally remained very cheerful, inquisitive and informed. She would wish to send her love and best wishes to you all who have been part of her long and meaningful life.
