Neda Ronaghi I lived on the same floor as Ryan during freshman year of college. We stayed close during our 4 years and periodically chatted and saw each other since then. Even in the darkest times, Ryan knew how to cheer the room up. We have so many memories I will forever cherish. My heart goes out to his closest <3
Andrew Wong Ryan and I met our second year in college and I knew right away he was going to be a pain for many years to come given the soccer team he rooted for was a rival of mine. Of course we would team up later to play intramural soccer and become futsal champs. We went through the good times and the rough times in college and I loved every second of it with this guy. Fortunately Ryan worked in SF post college and we were able to go on snowboarding trips until he left to Texas. I hold a lot of great memories with Ryan and I’ll never forget that bond we built over the years. Ryan knew how to have a good time and his presence was always fun and positive. He had this wittiness about him where he could make you laugh even if he wasn’t trying to and I loved it. His laid back attitude and cool demeanor was a breath of fresh air for all around him. You knew you could count on him to have your back. I’m deeply saddened that you’ve been taken away from us so early. Sending my love and condolences to the Whallon family. Rest in Peace my brother.
Daniel Ruatta To the family of Ryan Whallon, The loss of your son is tragic, and we cannot find a consolation sufficient to lessen your grief. Nick Ferraro Ryan, Aaron and I took a boys trip to Europe when we just started making some money in 2017. He and I had recently moved in together and it was our first trip out of the country together. We visited Amsterdam, Prague, London, and Dubrovnik and had the kind of fun that 24 year old guys abroad have. While we'd already been good friends before, this trip solidified that we'd be friends for life.
Marc Munoz I met Ryan when we were freshmen at Damien and my earliest memories of him are layered with his contagious sense of humor, humble intelligence, and loyal friendship. He was never alone at school and was always surrounded by his friends that were usually laughing at one of his signature jokes. During college we’d catch up over the holidays and during his quick stops in San Luis Obispo when he’d be driving home from Santa Cruz. After college we managed to keep in touch through text and social media while fitting in time to snag a drink or catch a soccer game when we were both in town; something that I always looked forward to. This picture is from the last time that I was able to hangout with him. He was home from San Francisco so we got some cheap tickets to catch the Galaxy game after they had signed a new player from his favorite team, Manchester United. We got to catch up on life, retell old stories, and share a lot of laughs. After the game we ended the night like we had many times before, with a trip to In N Out. I didn’t think that would be the last time I’d see my friend but it’s going to remain a great memory that encompassed our friendship almost perfectly. Although this is the only semi-decent picture I have of us from that night, I’m aware that it’s poorly taken with bad lighting but it still serves as an awesome reminder of this, and many other great times we got to share. My thoughts, prayers, and love go out to the Whallon family. Ryan was the best and continues to mean a lot to so many people. Thank you for sharing him with all of us.
Katie Pollard I met Ryan back in 2016 at my first job out of college. Ryan worked on the east coast sales team at Darktrace and typically worked quietly with his headphones on in the back of the office. Despite working on separate teams, we quickly formed a friendship. Although we both despised our BDR jobs, we always found something to joke about at the office (typically at the expense of our boss). Ryan had a wicked sense sense of humor and was always dependable for a happy hour drink after work on Fridays. Even when we both left Darktrace, he continued to be a friend that I could always count on. His friendship, intelligence and clever sense of humor will forever live in my memory. I’m still at a loss for words now that he is gone and my sincerest sympathies goes out to his family. RIP my friend. You will always be missed.
Olga Ioudina My best memories of Ryan were never truly caught on camera, because he always made you want to be so present. This is just a still from a video I found, and it does not do justice to his presence, his smile, his passion for Manchester United, the momentum he built, his contagious determination, his infinite dedication to the notes on the pages of all the books he read, or his patience for my dad jokes. You will always be here in Austin in more ways than just in my heart.
Marco Galvan One of the things I remember was Ryan telling me how badly he wanted to go to a UT game and do the hook 'em sign. Little did he know I was a season ticket holder so it was great taking him to his first game there.
Gabriel Gonzalez I’ll miss ya man. These are pictures from the last two years. Ryan was always up for an adventure; whether is was hanging out in the desert, snowboarding, or finding a soccer game in another state, he was always up for anything. Love ya brother.
Olga Ioudina Blake and I went to Houston to watch MU play Real Madrid this last Wednesday (07/26/2023). You would've loved it, even though we lost. You are missed more than you know in the least unexpected (and sometimes most expected) moments!
