Our grandad was a very considerate, thoughtful and caring person. He was there for every Christmas and remembered every birthday. When we visited him, he always ordered Chinese because he know that was our favourite meal. He was full of wisdom and knowledge, and very passionate about his people. He encouraged and supported all of us in our studies....

It has happened that we will never physically see Chief Etenyin Esessien again. However, we have to remember that "the world is a stage", so said William Shakespeare, and that we the humans are mere "dramatis personae", who leave the stage after our our performance. I believe that applies to Chief Esessien as well as to any of us living. I still re...

alex shaw As Deidre's friend, I have known David for a long time - probably almost as long as she has. He was always around when we first flatted together in West London in the late 1970s, and we have enjoyed meals and outings together over the years. I have many happy memories of him over the years, and he will stay in my memory, larger than life, for a long time to come.

I have known Chief Etenyin Essessien as a man who loved his heritage, the Ibibios of Nigeria. He was very proud of that and will always seek to promote who we are at every opportunity. His usual costumes and dressing is an example. He was a man of the community who loved people. In the late 80s, he worked tirelessly with other patriotic sons of Ak...
