Celebrating the life of

Peter F. Cummings

04 Feb 1942 - 13 Apr 2020

Please join us to celebrate the life of Peter F. Cummings, a wonderful husband of 57 years with his wife Carol. They met in the summer of ‘61 while working at the A&P in Rockaway which is where they started their family before moving to Long Island and settling in Rockville Centre. A loving father and father in law of 5 children and their spouses, Cathy & Danny Croutier, Peter Kevin & Donna Cummings, Brian & Kelly Cummings, Kerry & Matt Shimaitis and Elizabeth & Luke Weeks. An amazing grandfather to 16 grandchildren, Kendall, Sarah Erin, Nathanael, Liam, Caroline, Maura, Keegan, Courtney, Matthew, Patrick, Bridget, Ryan, Maisie, Rory and the most recent addition Peter (PJ). A great son to Thomas & Mary Cummings and brother to Tommy, Mary Pat and Fran, uncle and devoted friend to many. A proud member of local Steamfitters 638 for 60 years. Following in his fathers footsteps he became an apprentice at age 18, he worked many jobs over the years as a Steamfitter in his beloved New York city including the restoration of Ellis Island. During his career he worked with great partners and fellow fitters on various jobs around New York and across the country including California. A founding member of the Steamfitters Bag Pipe band, he played drums and marched in St. Patrick's day parades across Long Island and New York City. Please join us on August 13th at 4pm at St. Agnes Cathedral for a funeral Mass to honor and celebrate his life. We will be hosting a gathering immediately following Mass from 5pm-7pm at Monaghan’s located at 48 N. Village Avenue. We hope you can join us to celebrate a life well-lived, share stories and some laughs in honor of our Dad. In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged in my father’s name to the Villa Veritas foundation which helps Steamfitters who are struggling. We will be practicing safe social distancing protocol so please bring a mask for church and the celebration.
