Please share any thoughts, memories, photos, videos, and stories in celebration of Patricia. Using content from this memorial, we will create a commemorative mini-documentary celebrating the life of our wonderful Pat. We will launch the mini-doc at a screening via Zoom, to which you will all be invited, and then we will share it with everyone as a video.

It was an honor to meet and converse with this well-educated, hilarious, quick-witted woman who I instantly connected with over knowing the history behind Frida Kahlo, whom our daughter is named after. May you rest in peace forever.

Melissa Oh so accomplished! Dr. Patricia Schreiner-Engel.
Pat was very important to me and my family. Pat supervised me one January for a college winter internship, and it was great to get to know her better that way. I also listed her as a reference for my first job out of grad school, which I got hired for, and my boss told me afterward that Pat (kindly) raved about me. When my father, who she worked...

Rokhsha Michael-Razi May 2025 with Pat at Persian restaurant in Naples. Pat loved dinning out and enjoying good food.
Rokhsha Michael-Razi May 2025. When we did mini road trips, Pat always took charge of navigation and direction, whether we were in NY or Naples.
Rokhsha Michael-Razi Aug 2024 - we shared birthday month and had an early birthday dinner at the Persian restaurant in Naples.
Losing a friend is painful—it is also proof of how deeply we were blessed to love and be loved. Pat was not just a friend—she was the joy that lived in the quietest part of me. Pat will remain softly and powerfully, in every memory that brings me comfort.
I miss her so much!

My memories of Pat are too numerous to list here - but some are noteworthy.
I’ll start with my first encounter. Pat and I met on a trip to the Galapagos - it must have been in late 1993.
For the cruise around the islands, we were on a small ship: 12 passengers, a crew of 3! The fact that we were two single women from ...
Dominic HarariVery fond memories of being welcomed by Pat as a guest in her Stamford home as if we'd always belonged there. A unique combination of human warmth and razor sharp intellectuality who served up the crispiest bacon. Her openness, curiosity, frankness and wisdom made you want to instantly confide in her. Pat was an elegant person in every sense. Kind and one of a kind.22nd February, 2026
Tomas CoulterIn May 2014 I travelled to stay with Pat in NY State. She insisted on buying large and delicious steaks - each one alone could have fed 2 people. These were accompanied by equally large baked potatoes and beetroots using an oven roasted technique which I learned from her. There was a desert of 'chocolate pie' which she had been talking about and it didn't dissapoint. While in America Pat kindly and generously hosted me a total of 4 times, twice in NY and twice in Florida - it was great fun, she was so encouraging, entertaining, cheerful and caring. 11th February, 2026
Eli ColemanI have known Pat for more than 30 years. My interactions with her were mostly with the Society for Sex Therapy and Research. I always found her to be so bright, articulate and supportive of everyone in the Society. She was one of the Past Presidents of SSTAR. She was very dear to me and to so many others in the Association. She will always be remembered and missed!28th January, 2026
Rokhsha Michael-RaziI met my friend Pat twenty years ago on a boat drifting along the Hudson River. It’s funny how life works—how a single moment, a shared space, can spark a friendship that lasts for decades. Tennis brought us together first, and later the joy of cooking deepened our bond.
Seeing Pat always made me feel better than before. She had a way of offering answers to any question, any problem, as if wisdom simply lived within her. Her presence lit up every room she entered, making it warmer, brighter, and infinitely more enjoyable.
I miss her dearly and there won’t be a single day when I don’t think of her. 9th January, 2026

David WarnockPat was endlessly interesting and endlessly interested. She always wanted to know what was going on.
