Olive affectionately called her husband Dear Gentle John. They built their home together in Mooney Street Lane Cove. Unable to have her own children, she adopted Ann in 1962 and Richard in 1964. She always said how blessed that she was to have her children and loved them unconditionally. Her family meant the world to her. Her daughter in law Julia and her son in law Jock were also loved and she was happy to see both her children happily married. Grandma to Alison, Jessica, Jonathan, Timothy, Matthew, Daniel, Samantha and Olivia and their partners. Olive was a proud Grandma. Her older grandchildren spent many hours with her over the years. Sleeping over, cooking, dressing up, listening to her play the piano, or as Alison and Jessica got older going shopping. She was a beautiful seamstress and made many of her own clothes, and countless clothes for her children and grandchildren. Olive also was Great-Grandma to Noah, Manny, Jonah, Jack, Isabel, Sophie and Grace. Olive was a second Mother to her two nieces Colleen and Gayle while they attended boarding school in Sydney. Aunty Olly. Olive was a friend to many. Her "neighbours" as she called them were some of her closest friends. Olive had a strong faith in God and that faith carried her through many of the hardships that she faced in her extraordinary life. Her faith in the Lord never waivered and it was her greatest desire to go be with Him as her health deteriorated. A great planner she was always several steps ahead of everyone else in her life. She was always a busy person. A life well lived.
