Join MemoriesAndrew Mackinnon A poem by each of the students at Highton, 1992
THE STAR BEAST He came to teach us about the Universe, He was found by a farmer and he was silent at first, And soon he learned the language, and the dialogue, But one day he got fed up with the foolish human ways, So he left us, to return another day. BY MILES BURT (YEAR 7, 1992)

Miles was the first friend I made when I arrived at Timbertop on year 9 at GGS. Miles was loyal friend for 25 years, a great rower and brilliant lawyer. Through out the challenges the life through at Miles, he never complained and always had a smile on his face to the very end. ad astra per aspera
You're in peace now brother. We won't forget you.

You will be missed my friend, Rest In Peace.
Miles you excelled and knew no limits. Your brilliant mind kept you achieving greatness and your passion and laughter was contagious. Thank you for being there for me in the early days. You were solid as a rock for all of your friends. I'll miss you mate, but know we'll see each other someday soon x
Burtie - you were a smart, compassionate and fierce competitor. I'll carry fond memories of you forever. See you on the other side...
Miles, a man with worldly ambitions and a heart of gold... sadly missed but forever in our hearts and minds mate! It was a pleasure knowing you and enjoying your weird and wonderful stories... Rest In Peace now brother knowing that you touched many hearts and your legacy will live on through all that knew you!
Miles, Very sorry I can’t make it tomorrow. You used to come and wake me up and make me run with you a couple of times a week. Got me into running which has been a bit of a god send for me. I lost contact with you after school, but this has been a huge ongoing positive for me. Rest In Peace mate. You will not be forgotten
As we said our formal goodbye, even the heavens wept. We are sad that you have left us, yet our lives have been immeasurably enriched for you being part of them. Rest well dear and faithful friend in your richly deserved and long-delayed peace.
Miles, I’m sorry life was so unfair to you, I know how much you struggled. But I’m so happy that your mates rallied around you and made the last few months some of the best times of your life. Rest In Peace. Linda.
