To my sister-in-law Mervia whom I’ve known for close to fifty years. A dedicated Mother and Grandmother and a woman who was also God fearing and full of principles and qualities. You tried to see the best in every individual whether they deserved it or not. You fought a good fight, stronger than you I’ve yet to see. Fly high with ancestors GNBNF 🙏...

JACQUELINE GRAHAM From Everold Reid (nephew)

My fondest memories were when Mervia came from Jamaica to be with Larry. We spent a lot time together. It was so exciting for me when she was planning her wedding. I enjoyed the years with Mervia when Jackie was born as I was an essential part of her life. I loved going up to North London with her to visit her sister Jane. Mervia was loved and will...

JACQUELINE GRAHAM I first met Mervia when my late husband and I moved to Frankfield in South Manchester where he was Principal of the local All Age School. The Reid's family lived next door to the school. Mervia was then attending the Holmwood Technical High School and was a communicant member of th Frankfield Methodist Church. My first impression of Mervia was that she was very intelligent and quite bright. She was respectful, pleasant and very ambitious. Her parents often spoke of her academic achievement and had high expectations of her. She did not let them down. After graduating from high school she later migrated to the United Kingdom, a place she made her home for a very long time. It is worthy of note that whenever Mervia visited Jamaica, she would find her rightful place in church and contributed generously to the upkeep and maintenance of the church. When she re located to Jamaica a few years ago she became more active in the affairs of the church and would call to find out how things were going and when next there was a function at the church. She was instrumental in replacing a window in memory of her parents. We mourn with her family on her passing but encourage you not to mourn as those who have no hope as some day you all will meet again when there will be no parting. Rest in peace my friend.

JACQUELINE G. Thank you Mrs Gooden for your kind words. God bless you and see you soon 🇯🇲🇯🇲🙏🏾🇯🇲🇯🇲

It is with immense sadness that I am paying tribute to my high school classmate and dear friend, Mervia. After leaving high school, we pursued our separate goals. However, we were always in touch with each other and occasionally spent time together. There were always lots of memories to share. Her daughter, Jackie, and my daughter went to boardin...

Mervia was the first manager of the new Selly Oak MHA Live at Home scheme, beginning in a snowy January in 2013, when there were still a great number of “teething problems” to be overcome. It took more time than we expected to install telephone and broadband lines in the office, which must have tried Mervia’s patience! But she continued with “gr...

Marcia Walker You were such a beautiful soul.. you will be missed my dear friend. Rest in peace.

Mervia affectionately nicknamed "Ms Mervz" has always been a mainstay in my adult life as she would frequent our family home to come and see my mother Charol. And in doing so I was always entertained with stories told with so much animation and humour. Ms Mervz used to love her dominos and round the table the humour and laughter would continue. Iv...
