Magdolna Glover
08 Mar 1940 - 12 Jul 2020Magdolna Hejjas Glover was born on August 3rd, 1940 in Budapest, Hungary, to Janos Hejjas and Maria Szabo. She escaped from Hungary twice during her childhood, due to events associated with WWII and the communist takeover of Hungary. The second time, she and her parents sought refuge in Dallas,TX, with help from a group of Hungarian monks who had established a Cistercian Abbey there. She received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Dallas, and met her husband of 25 years, Everett Dow Glover, at the local ice skating rink. After moving from Dallas to Madison, WI they had a daughter, Greta. In Madison, Magdolna completed Master’s Degrees at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, in Russian Literature and Business Administration. She started an import/export business, raised her daughter, and enjoyed cooking and gardening in her spare time. She took great pleasure in crafting the perfect soufflé, meringue, standing rib toast, Dobos torte, and countless other delicacies. She grew tons of popcorn for her grandchildren in the garden plot near her house. She is survived by her daughter Greta Hejjas Glover, and her two grandchildren, Iris Hejjas Glover Kaur Khatra, and Mohan Glover Singh Khatra.
