Lady Deaconess Mrs. Kate Imuetinyan Obaseki was a shining star, born on January 29th into the esteemed Abunsoman, Ero, and Lawani-Borkini families. Her father, the late Chief Solomon Iroghama Abunsomwan, and her mother, the late Mrs. Hadijatu Abunsomwan, instilled in her the values of hard work, integrity, and compassion. Kate's academic journey was marked by excellence and determination. She attended St. Matthew Primary School, where she laid the foundation for her future success. With a scholarship, she proceeded to Holy Trinity Grammar School Sabongida Ora, where she honed her skills and developed a passion for learning. Her thirst for knowledge led her to Auchi Polytechnic, where she studied Accountancy. She furthered her education at the University of Benin, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy, and later at the University of Lagos, where she obtained her Master of Science degree in the same field. Throughout her life, Kate was committed to continuous learning, attending numerous courses worldwide to enhance her skills and knowledge. Her professional career was a testament to her dedication and expertise. She worked with distinction in the defunct Nigeria National Fishing Company (NNFC), Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), and Petrobras, where she retired as Institutional Relations Director. Her retirement marked a new chapter, as she became a distributor with Nestlé plc. Kate's personal life was a beautiful reflection of her values. She was married to Sir Chief Jaybee Obaseki JP, and together they had five wonderful children. Her family was a source of joy and strength, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Throughout her life, Kate believed in the dignity of labor, and her remarkable journey was a testament to her hard work, perseverance, and faith. On Monday, November 25th, 2024, surrounded by her loving children and sister, she joined the saints triumphant, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and inspiration.
