Ken Mellor
15 Sep 1942 - 21 Jul 2023Celebrating the life of Ken Mellor, a man of great wisdom, grace and love who was an inspiration to thousands of people around the world. Ken was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle to his family. He was also a consummate teacher who spent his life bringing aliveness, goodwill, peace and fulfilment to everyone and everything he encountered. After graduating with a degree in Mathematics and Philosophy from Monash University (Melbourne), Ken trained and worked as social worker and then an inspiring teacher and Supervising Transactional Analyst (Psychotherapy). He was awarded the Eric Berne Memorial award for his TAJ material on Discounting and Redefining, and the ITAA Muriel James Living Principles Award for his outstanding qualities and lasting contribution to the field. He wrote numerous works in professional TA publications and has written, co-authored or contributed to 16 books. In the 1970s and 1980s, in search of spiritual fulfilment, he and Elizabeth, underwent intensive training with Indian teachers including Shree Shree Thakur Balak Brahmachari, Swami Krishna and Swami Muktananda. And later Mother Meera who enabled a further expansion in his spiritual evolution. Ken and Elizabeth founded the Awakening Network in 1984. Together they taught a blend of Western psychology and Eastern spirituality to many thousands of people in Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, USA, and Europe. Their focus was on integrating meditation and spirituality into a western lifestyle. He and Elizabeth facilitated thousands of workshops and seminars in nine countries on these topics. Ken developed multiple meditation recordings and wrote several books about meditation, spirituality, and practical living: Taking Charge, Urban Mystic, Pearls and Inspiration Meditation and Personal Wellbeing. Together with Elizabeth, they co-authored several books on parenting: Parent Craft, Teen Stages.
