Not a personal memory, obviously... When mom was an infant, she was in the car with Busia, Grandpa, and Aunt Barb. Their car stalled on some railroad tracks, a train was coming, Grandpa couldn't start the car. Their car was hit by a train. When the police officer pulled mom out of the backseat he was in tears... he thought she was dead. She was jus...
Not sure if it was '67 or a year earlier. Mom went on a date with a childhood friend. After the date, they go to his house. They are on the porch and she is invited in. Mom knows no one is home, gets a very uneasy feeling, and declines to enter, saying she should get home. He urges her to come in, tries to convince her that it will be fine. She sai...
Shannon Kramer Hard to tell which of the 11 pregnancies this was. 😉 Mom & Aunt Katie had a special bond. How many women in the 70s & 80s we’re having that many kids? We all thought Aunt Katie was superwoman - to have 11 kids and still be working nights as a nurse. No matter how full Aunt Katie’s house was, she always made room for us. She & mom would band together and cook for us. How did 22 kids running around not drive her crazy? I have great memories of Aunt Katie being so kind & happy to see us. I’m sure it wasn’t always the case, but we’re so glad she hosted us. My favorite childhood memories were inside and/or outside Uncle Bill & Aunt Katie’s house. Sledding Killer Hill, watching the Leddy’s pick up snakes, riding the 3-wheelers, hanging in the cabin, camping out in the piano living room, having popcorn & a movie in the upstairs living room, playing ‘Don’t Wake the Dragon’ on the stairs, exploring the woods, and hanging with the Leddy cousins.
Shannon Kramer It was at this point mom & aunt Katie said, “why stop now, maybe we should have twice this many kids”! 🥰 I love them for it. 2 strong, loving women. 22 very lucky kids.
Shannon Kramer Glad to know the parents got a few minutes of peace to enjoy a beer & a chat - looks like they were solving big world problems. I’m sure your parents understood our parents more than anyone.
I remember waking up at night crying from an earache and Mom rocking me in the rocking chair so lovingly(I was probably way too old to be rocked in the chair). I haven't figured out how to be sweet like that when my kids wake me up at night🐻
Visiting Mom at the hospital. I couldn't have been more than two. I was feeling so distressed, then she appeared in the window. She looked like an angel, smiling so big as she walked through the door and took me in her arms.

C-C's laugh brought Mom such Joy! She was always looking for a Christmas gift that would get her to laugh😍
One of the times we were able to convince mom to play with us... it was on our road-trip vacation up north, on the beach of Lake Superior, where she finally caved and decided to try her luck at the long jump. She ran faster and harder than I have ever seen her run, only at last minute to trip on the beach towel we had marking the jumping point, and...
Mom bellowing, "Whyyyyy am I so beautiiifuuul" when she wasn't getting much love or attention from us

Taking mom trick-or-treating for her 50th birthday. She wore the alien costume and felt so embarrassed and "stupid", but had an absolute blast. She was laughing the entire time, and the people at every house gave her extra candy and birthday wishes :)
I don’t remember the exact day but I’ll never forget this feeling. I was holding baby Luke shortly after he came home from the hospital. I was staring at him in total amazement at how much I loved him. I then looked over at Mom and started sobbing. She ran over to me thinking something was wrong and through hyperventilated breaths I told her no...
Can't remember the exact date. Mom and I were driving home from Paradise. We were in the left lane on I-75 during rush-hour, going over a large overpass where two highways intersect (I can't remember which). I had just put a CD in the player when I feel myself float off my seat, suspended in air, only the seat-belt touching me. I see our car sidewa...
Josephine Jock Got BEER? Getting mom ready to pick up C-C from college her freshman year. Amazing!!
Alana Leddy A picture I always have hanging in my room ♥️. One of the most clear memories I have with Grandma was when I was very little and grandma would take me with her to the nail salon in Waterford. I remember climbing on the chairs to help her pick out her nail polish colors and design style! The smells and the sounds and watching the nail lady doing grandmas nails was always so fun to watch as a kid! I loved spending time with grandma no matter what we were doing ♥️
Mary&Paco Valdovinos "And here we have, Dwama!"
I remember whenever my mom would go to the hospital to have a baby grandma would always come down to watch us. My favorite part is when she would sing is funny songs before bed about chiefs and fluffy bunnies and always tell us fun stories. I still remember all the words she would sing❤️
I wish I had a picture, but one of my favorite Grandma memories was doing the Divine Mercy Chaplet with her and Lalli on Sunday afternoons when we lived up at the Big House. It was even better if we got stop over at her BFF Mirza’s before hand because Mirza had a HUGE garden. Grandma had a relationship with Jesus not many can say they have. She a...

Mary&Paco Valdovinos Mom couldn't wait to get old. This is the day it finally happened 😂
Mary&Paco Valdovinos Did I mention she was the best at rocking kids in the chair? And she always brought "Hosé" his favorite treat, "betchtables!"

I remember the first year that Momma Leddy had me over for Christmas. I had brought a poinsettia with me for her, and when I made it across the sea of children to gave it to her she started sobbing because she had said how she forgot to get one this year. She went to set it down and seconds turned around laughing uncontrollably and gave me a hug. I...
Rhyan Frost Taking the Grandparents out for a cruise! (2014/2015)?
Shannon Kramer Aunt Katie was such a beauty. Every time I see a picture of her I think of her awesome laugh. She had strong faith, which inspired many. And she knew how to cut loose and have a good laugh. I was very touched by her life.
When I had my stomach issues and everyone else was at the county fair grandma stayed back and did everything for me while also cracking up with me every time we watched spongebob. Wish there was a picture.

Maura Wilson We invited Mom and Dad out to Black Rock to celebrate Matthew’s 11th and Maddie’s 13th birthdays. Mom was looking the menu up and down seeming confused then asked the waiter if they would just bring her the steak already cooked. She said if she wanted to cook her own food she would’ve stayed home. 😂
Maura Wilson Remember going Moonshine tasting in Gatlinburg? Mom ended up purchasing over $200 worth of moonshine to get the “free” cooler.
The grace of a happy death: After battling aggressive cancer for two years, Mom passes away surrounded by her her loved ones: her husband, all of her children, some of her grandchildren. She was given the grace to prepare for death, to say goodbye. She, a champion for Divine Mercy, took her last breath at 11pm after the family gathered to say the D...
Shannon Kramer This was taken at one of “Maura’s sunsets” where we all hiked up over the dunes at Ludington 2018, and it was especially beautiful that night. I think Maura, Leo, Katie, Angie, etc were there. This cross appeared in the sky out of nowhere. I have pictures minutes before, and it wasn’t there. We felt that day, and every time I see this picture of that giant cross in the sky that Aunt Katie was giving a sign that she will always be there with her kids and grandkids. I get chills just thinking about it. Her soul is that glorious.
Maggie Schneider Someone once told me this picture of grandma looked a little like me, and I thought this was the most wonderful compliment ever. She is currently my work computer’s screensaver and I ask her to pray with me often.

Join MemoriesKatie Leddy was a loving and magical mother of eleven and grandmother of, well I lost count...I am so lucky to have known her for the time that I did and love getting to know her further through those who cared so much about her. I thought it might be nice having family contribute their photos and memories to a shared scrapbook for each other to read and see, and hope you do too!
