Mary Cranston The year would have been around 1982 and the event was a family picnic at Bell Park, Emu Park. Bryan and Karen joined other cousins with their Great Grandmother, known lovingly to all as Nanny Cranston. She loved all of her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. The family picnics were renowned and keenly looked forward to by all.
I never met Karen, but working with her brother Bryan was special. When Karen was pregnant with her first child, Bryan was THE cluckiest uncle you could ever imagine. On his whiteboard at work, he talked about Karen constantly and literally counted down the days until the birth. Sadly, the firstborn Thomas did not survive his first month, though m...
Karen was a major part of my working life and meant so much to me. I first met Karen when I started working at QML where she trained me and provided kindness, patience and of course a wicked sense of humour. When I left QML I was sad to leave a friend behind until one day she surprised me and followed me to Path Qld, where I helped train her. We h...
One thing Karen and I had in common was our love of reading and poetry. This was a poem we both liked. Do not stand at my grave and weep Anonymous Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow, I am the sunlight and ripened grain. I am the gentle A...
Bryan Cranston Since the tragedy of what happened to Karen I have been focused on her three amazing kids: Saul, Lara, and Jade. One thing I am committed to is helping them to always remember and know who their mum was. One way I would like to do this is to ask anyone who knew her to share and thoughts, stories, memories, anecdotes etc about Karen, as I would then like to collate all these and publish into a hardcopy document, one for each kid to keep and treasure and to read to help them know their mum and to keep her alive in them. I also ask that anyone who has any images of Karen to please share them to me too as I am wanting to collate all the images of her that I can, so I have them for the kids, family, and anyone else. A gofundme page has been set up to help support Saul, Lara, and Jade to have the future Karen would have wanted for them. www.gofundme.com/f/Karen-Gillilands-children-and-their-future
Karen, you took me under your wing when i first started at QML. Both you and Linnae were great. Showing me the ropes of speci's in the good old tannachy centre. We would scoot around in the van to pick up the speci's. I remeber this one time heading down Davis St, Karen was driving, well all i can say is that I held on for dear life. We then we hea...
I started working at Qml Pathology in November 2004 and Karen was in the laboratory. Karen was ALWAYS smiling, ALWAYS helpful and ALWAYS vivacious. I will never forget her smile! Bless her children ❤️
Brooke Jones Karen was not only our fearless leader in CSR, but above all else, our friend. She always had a smile on her face at work and you could hear her wonderful laughter all throughout the lab whenever she was at work. She always spoke fondly of her kids. She told us so many stories we felt like we knew them well. They were always doing funny things that sounded just like something Karen would do. She also told us many stories about her beloved chickens and cats. She was always there for us. Whether we needed advice or just to have a laugh. We miss you so much Karen xoxo Love Brooke and Katie
