The 6.7-magnitude temblor, centered in Reseda, causes extensive damage throughout the San Fernando Valley and beyond, rupturing sections of major freeways, smashing parking structures and office buildings, and destroying apartment buildings. $23,000,000.00 in damage to the Medical Center yet services were not interrupted. We lost the Granada Hills medical office building in this quake because it had not been earthquake retrofitted yet.

Kaiser Permanente Woodland Hills Two new inpatient units open at the Woodland Hills Medical Center, providing care for oncology and telemetry patients. Known as 4 East and 4 West, the units occupy 21,000 square feet on the fourth floor of the Medical Center. With space for up to 44 beds, the units help free up valuable space to provide additional clinical services elsewhere in our Medical Center. Four East is a 20-bed unit that cares for medical and surgical patients and those living with cancer. Four West is a 24-bed unit that serves patients who need heart monitoring and those who require medical observation.
Kaiser Permanente Woodland Hills Kaiser Permanente announces that every medical facility within the health system is now equipped with KP HealthConnect, the largest private sector electronic health record in the world. Kaiser Permanente hospitals in Oakland, Richmond and Vallejo in Northern California were the final facilities to complete the last phase of electronic health record implementation, which includes bedside documentation, clinical decision support and bar-coding for medication administration.
