Joe (Arthur William) Lum Wan of Enoggera On 28 September 2014, Joe peacefully passed away in his 100th year at the BUPA Aged Care of New Farm. He will be sadly missed by his family, and will be remembered lovingly every time we share a plate of oysters and prawns. The family wish to extend a heartfelt thanks to the Staff at BUPA New Farm for their care of Joe (Pa) in his final years. Arthur (Joe) was born in Mackay Queensland on June 7, 1915. He enlisted in the Army in 1941 and fought on the Malayan Peninsula seeing much action there. With the fall of Singapore in 1942, he then spent 3 ½ years as a POW in Changi Prison. Joe married Jessie in 1948 and settled in Brisbane, raising his children Kay and Jeff. He worked as a floor covering specialist, eventually having his own company for several years. He retired in 1975 and then spent time with Jessie camping and caravanning on the Sunshine Coast. Joe is survived by his daughter Kay; his son Jeff and his wife Susan; three grandchildren: Janet Keniger, Morgan and wife Renata Griffiths, and Jessica and husband Patrick Sweeney; two great-grandchildren Louisa and William Griffiths; and nephew Andrew and his wife Angela. Funeral services for Joe will be at the Albany Creek Crematorium in Brisbane on Friday, October 17th from 2:00pm. Joe will be interned in a niche next to Jessie at the crematorium. The family will certainly miss him.
