Jean Marie Yap Paterno “The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the caring that she lovingly gives, the p...
Cathy Babao You had that rare gift of making people feel that they were the most important person in the room when they were with you. Your kindness, care and generosity knew no bounds, Jean. I will never forget those twinkling eyes, your laughter, and your warm, comforting smile. Death only ends a physical relationship, you will forever be in my heart. See you someday. Please hug your godson for me. ❤️ To the Yap and Paterno families, sending you our deepest sympathies, and prayers of comfort and strength at this difficult time. Thank you for loving Jean so well.

As i was making this video for my cousin achi Jean who happens to be also my roommate when we went to Holyland last year, I could not stop my tears from rolling down as all the memories we had in this trip came flashing vividly in my thoughts.... those late night conversations we had talking about the thing that is so called LIFE. I really le...

Abigail Lopez My dearest Achi Jean, God has set you free - I’m heartbroken because I missing you terribly but it’s okay I know you you are in a better place now where you are pain free and having eternal rest. You were a perfect role model for all of us - kind, sincere, generous, wise and very loving. You were always there when i needed a life coach - cheering me up when my world turned dark. I’m humbled that you let me be part of your cancer journey. I will forever love you and THANK YOU for the great memories we have shared. Maayong Pagbaehae Achi!
Jean, The world has become a lot dimmer now that you are gone. Your radiance, positive energy, elegant fashion sense, unique sense of humor, accompanied by your shocking comments and insights (that certainly contrast your delicate, fragile beauty) not excluding your way of stating things matter of factly, at times, bluntly, will all be sorely miss...

One less beautiful, elegant and classy lady. Missing you Jean. Such a sad, sad day :(
Dearest Jean, You were always a bright light, a breath of fresh air: always impeccably fashionable, always smiling and glowing, with perfectly delicate and radiant skin … you brought an aura of lightness with you where ever you were. Your calm, soothing and happy disposition will surely be missed and we are so sorry to have not been able t...

Thank you Jean for gracing our lives with your wit, honesty, charm, and beauty. You always just told things like the way it is, albeit with mock humor. 😀 I will miss that. Rest na. See u someday.
Rosky De Guzman Love that smile!
I’m Rosky de Guzman . But Jean would say...Hey Rosekey! That’s how Jean would always start our private conversations. And I would say” Hello Jean Marie !” We had been doing this act since the early 80s. I have known her since our ICA grade school days. I remember in college, I showed to friends a photo of myself in grade 5, dancing on stage in IC...
Diana Que Jean I will miss your sweet and genuine smile, the one that would make a tiny wrinkle in your upturned eyes. You have inspired us with your quiet strength and steadfast loyalty to family and friends . Thank you for adding more color to my life with your spunk and quirky humor. It has been a privilege to have called you a friend. You will always be dear to me. Rest now in Jesus’ eternal embrace and be at peace.
Marina Chua Tan Jean A brave and selfless warrior until the end. With much beauty and grace, she battled the big C fearlessly. On top of that, Jean was still able to do much things like travelling and publishing books. We exchanged household ideas, recipes, and insights on various worldwide matters. Truly selfless, she poured her concerns over others before herself. Prior to cancer, Jean would regularly accompany her late sister, Marilou, on her dialysis and chemotherapy sessions. I have seen how devoted Jean was in caring for Marilou. Thus it was a shock for me to learn that Jean will also need my services. She took each treatment with faith and good stride, amazing many of us how she lived the most of her life. Despite her illness, Jean would occassionally text and ask me if I got enough sleep or rest after a long day in the hospital. Thank you, Jean, for the boardgames...you made our family bond together almost everynight to play a boardgame rather than spend time separately on individual gadgets. Thank you, Jean, for the meriendas you send to me on busy clinic afternoons when I missed lunch. Thank you, Jean, for the pictures you sent me during each of your travels because I can feel your joy touring those places and it makes me feel like I am travelling with you. Thank you, Jean, for the books, especially the one you and Mickey authored and published ("By Their Deeds: The Paternos of the Spanish Era Volumes 1 and 2) ... I was quite impressed of your work, it is more than any doctorate thesis and medical research combined. Thank you, Jean, for that final viber text to me that you love me and appreciate my efforts and concern...maybe because you knew that you may not be able to speak with me anymore from that day on, causing me to cry and cherish the times we had together. Thank you, Jean, for all the love and care you have shown to everyone around you. Rest well, my dear friend, you will no longer suffer. You are now an angel in Heaven, looking upon all of us. Until we meet again. Godspeed, Jean.

Thank you Jean for sharing yourself - your time, efforts and love for the family. Truly, as you aptly titled your book (with your life partner Mickey) - by your deeds and your selflessness, you now shine like a star in the sky for us who are still here to see. Your memory and legacy will remain with us as we let you go and shine even more. Goodb...
I remember Tita Jean for her big heart, love for history, and dedication to our family. When I was in college, her and Tito Mickey helped me with a history project regarding Pedro Paterno. He was a member of the Malolos Congress and because of how history portrayed him, Pedro Paterno is highly villainized especially in films like Heneral Luna. Talk...
