Janet Leigh was an American actress who passed away at the age of 77 due to a heart attack. She is most remembered for her role in "Psycho" for which she won a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress and received an Academy Award nomination. She was also well known for being the mother of Jamie Lee Curtis and Kelly Curtis. Born 1927 in Merced, California, Leigh attended the University of the Pacific. She then attended night school at the University of Southern California in 1947. That same year, her first film was "The Romance of Rosy Ridge." In 1958, she appeared in the movie “Touch of Evil” and two years later she starred in the iconic film “Psycho” to great reviews. She starred in the “Manchurian Candidate” in 1962. Leigh returned to film in 1980 with the film “The Fog.” She wrote two memoirs, “There Really Was a Hollywood” in 1984 and “Psycho: Behind the Scenes of the Classic Thriller” in 1995.
