Jan Hooks was an American actress and comedian who departed this life at the age of 57 due to an undisclosed illness. She was best known for her work on NBC's Saturday Night Live from 1986 to 1991. She was formerly part of the improv group the Groundlings. Born 1957 in Decatur, Georgia, Hooks performed in 1978 on "Tush" on the television station WTCG, which eventually became TBS. In 1982, she starred in HBO comedy series "Not Necessarily the News" and gained lots of attention and in 1985, Hooks made guest appearances on "Comedy Break with Mack and Jamie."
