James Montgomery "Jimmy" Doohan was a Canadian character and voice actor who departed this life at the age of 85 due to natural causes. He was best known for portraying the role of Lieutenant Commander Montgomery "Scotty" Scott, a Scottish Chief Engineer of the Starship Enterprise in the television and film series "Star Trek." He played seven of the "Star Trek" films. Born 1920 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, he enrolled in the 102nd Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps when he was eighteen. In 1946, Doohan won a two-year scholarship to the "Neighborhood Playhouse" in New York City. In 1962, Doohan appeared in the television western series, "Bonanza.” Then in 1969, he appeared as Montgomery "Scotty" Scott in the TV series, "Star Trek" and made television history. In 1978, he starred as Captain in the live-action kids' show "Jason of Star Command." Then in 1979, Doohan reprised his role as Montgomery "Scotty" Scott in the film "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" and in the entire Star Trek series of films.
