Stott Howard Cortney and I always fancied ourselves as intrepid explorers of the wilderness....from the time we capsized a canoe up Logan canyon (thankfully Cindy and Laur did not let us put Adam and Casey on the boat) to an incredible hike with all of our boys up to Grandeur Peak. What strikes me most about the photograph of Jack and Trevor is Jack's joyful smile while he has his arm around his hiking buddy Trevor. It was clearly a signal of the wonderfully caring and sensitive gentleman he was to become.
Jack and I were best of friends in our elementary and into our jr. high school days. His grandmother used to watch all the kids when the parents were at work in the summer. We used to go the Hogle Zoo just about everyday it would feel like! I loved being over at the Robinson's! So many front yard football and basketball games when you were still...
About 2004, just after his 21st birthday, Jack visited his aunt Jane and me at our beachfront home in Cayucos. A younger Jack had visited us there a few times before and Jane and I had shared a chuckle every time we heard his stocking feet pitter patter over the hardwood floor to the window seat where binoculars and a birdwatching book were availab...

H C Banjos and Babies His love for snuggling babies and his passion for folksy, feel-good music was so infectious. Magnetic to the point you couldn’t help but jump right in. All smiles and all laughs. No matter where he went, if there was a kiddo around, Jack would be right there making a new best friend and keeping watch over their safety and comfort. The connection was effortless. This video is from a 2015 St. George trip and catches a moment of Jack having fun with one of his all-time best friends. And another 2015 picture of him with a little dude who always felt right at home in his arms. All the while, Jack’s excellent taste in music accompanied these playful days. There are so many favorite musicians of his to choose from, it’s difficult to pick only one. But this gentleman…I know he loved most definitely. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=TXsdoN7G0qw We’re lovin and huggin and singin with you, Jacky-Pooh. Forever.
Darbi Hughes Chavez I had the opportunity to work with Jack for many years at Nelson Labs. He was a good friend and always brought a great attitude to work. This video was from a baby shower we had for Jen and Scott Hammond. He will be missed.
Cyndee Draper A bit blurry, but this is Jack and his cousin Jeff (my dad) and I believe this was grandma Jean's 90th birthday party.
Cyndee Draper After Grandma Jean's birthday celebration the cousins headed to the park for some touch football. Jack is in an all white shirt.
Aubrey Robinson In 2019 we took a weekend camping trip to the Unitas and we brought a hand chainsaw. Jack and Zach made it a goal to cut through this log in the campsite. I think they both expected it to be a little easier than it was but nonetheless, we laughed and laughed while these too goons cut through the log!

Our beloved Jack passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021, in a Reno, Nevada hospital from sudden heart complications. At only 34, his death was all the more tragic as he was engaged to marry and begin a new chapter in his life. Jack first delighted our eyes when he was born in Salt Lake City on February 27, 1987, the precious son of Cortney Jack a...
Peter Barrett I had the pleasure of hiring Jack to work with me at B.C. Surf & Sport in South Towne mall. Jack, along with his brother Sean, always impressed me with his hard work, good nature, and intelligence. Not to mention an enviable ability to be be equally talented with a skateboard or schoolwork! I think of Jack as the little brother I never had the privilege of having; as my own younger brother passed away as an infant. Never did I doubt that Jack would grow to be an outstanding man. It is unfair that such a great young person be taken away too soon. I choose to remember Jack’s youthful humor and excitement for living.
Aubrey Robinson A celebration of life will be held in Brighton’s Milly Chalet on September 4th, 2021, from 11am to 3pm as an open house. Our family requests that only those who have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 attend. Address: 8183 S Brighton Loop Rd., Brighton, UT 84121
Jovi Bathemess I was lucky enough to spend to a lot of time with Jack during our adolescent years. Not only did we attend the same middle and high school, but we also worked together at BC Surf and Sport for nearly 10 years and would skate together regularly. Skating and working was always more fun with Jack around. As I write this, I’m reminded of him bursting into laughter every time our 9th grade Geometry teacher mispronounced my name 'Bovi', how he loved to play his favorite new CD's on repeat at the shop, and the countless times we spent skating/filming together at various skateparks. I really cherish these memories and will always remember his infectious laugh. I'm very thankful for Jack's friendship and all the good times we shared.
I met and started working with Jack during high school. It was my first job, and Jack was a few years my senior. These were formative times for me, and Jack had more of an influence on me (and everyone around us) than he knew. He was a light. He radiated kindness. His jocund disposition, more than a joy to be around, taught me to care about the rig...
