He is the 3rd sibling of the 10 children of Constancio Torres Medrana of Sto Tomas, Batangas and of Bibiana Liggayu Medrana of Echague, Isabela. He studied at Echague Elementary School then during his high school years at La Trinidad Benguet Agricultural School where he graduated with honors. In 1959, He was a former Philippine Military Academy cadet in Baguio City and transferred to Philippine Air Force Flying School in Fernando Air Base Lipa City, Batangas from where he graduated as 2nd lieutenant on March 17, 1962. He was an instructor pilot of T-28 Trojan and T-33 trainor aircraft for two years in the PAF. During the Vietnam war, he was assigned on a special mission as one of the flying crew of the AC-47 "Spooky" fleet belonging to the United States Air Force (USAF) providing close air to ground attack support for the American troops against the communist rebels before joining the Air Manila Inc which he flew as captain of HS-748. He joined Philippine Airlines in 1970 as first officer flying the domestic route. As he climbs up the ladder of his career, he flew the following aircrafts from regional to long range international flights as Captain of: 1) McDonnel Douglas DC-3; 2) BAC 1-11; 3) Airbus A-300; 4) Boeing 747-200 and 5) Boeing 747-400. He has earned more than 20,000 flying hours during his career until his early retirement in 1996 as Captain of the Boeing 747-400. After his retirement from the commercial airline industry, he spent his years enjoying his family and grandchildren, orchard farming and managing his resort business until his death on October 16, 2003 at age 66.
