Erwin Michael Seidel, 84 Erwin Michael Seidel, fondly known as Mike, passed away peacefully at the age of 84 with his loving family surrounding him and holding his hands. He leaves behind a legacy of genuine kindness, grace, and love that touched the hearts of many. Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Melarie, his daughter Holly & Jeff, son Kyle, daughter-in-law Carla, and his cherished grandchildren Ethan, Sierra, Erica, and Sawyer. He will also be remembered fondly by his wonderful friends and family across the world. Mike lived a remarkable life, marked by his dedication to education and his distinguished career. He attended the University of Michigan, where he earned his master's degree in chemical engineering, and later obtained his MBA from Central Michigan University. He spent his professional life at Dow Chemical, where his contributions were highly valued and respected. Through his work, Mike had the opportunity to travel and explore the world, visiting countries such as Israel, Germany, India, Japan, and other international destinations. After a fulfilling career, Mike was fortunate to retire early. He spent his summers surrounded by family and friends at his lake house in East Tawas, MI on Lake Huron, creating countless cherished memories. Winters found him in Clayton, CA, where he was an active and beloved member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Mike's retirement years were filled with activities that brought him joy and fulfillment. He had a passion for golf, spending many happy hours on the greens. He also loved skiing and cherished the time he spent in the mountains with family and friends. Mike was dedicated to volunteering at the Dow Wetlands, where his efforts made a positive impact on the environment. He was an avid bridge player and enjoyed the camaraderie of the game. He loved hiking up Mt. Diablo and exploring the shores of Lake Huron, always ready for an adventure. Known for his zest for life, Mike was up for anything and always ready to have fun. Mike was known for his warm and welcoming personality. He had a passion for cooking, delighting those around him with his culinary skills, though he was also known to leave a big mess in the kitchen! His genuine kindness and grace left an indelible mark on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Mike's life was a testament to the power of love, faith in God, family, and friendship. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. A memorial service to celebrate Mike's life will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran church (details below).
