Ernest Borgnine was an American film and television actor who departed this life at the age of 95 due to kidney failure. For his role in the film "Marty" he won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1955. Most recognize him for his role on television as Quinton McHale in the series "McHale's Navy." His career was over sixty years long. Born 1917 in Hamden, Connecticut, he joined the Navy in 1935, was discharged in 1941 and then re-enlisted again after Pearl Harbor, serving until 1945. Borgnine landed his first stage role in the play “State of the Union” in 1947. After a move from New York to Los Angeles he received his big break in “From Here to Eternity” in 1953. Two years later he starred as the butcher in “Marty.” But Borgnine became a household name when he starred in the comedy television show “McHale's Navy” in 1962. Returning to the movies in 1969, one of his most famous roles was that of Dutch in “The Wild Bunch.” Later in his life, Borgnine starred in “Airwolf” in 1983. At age 92, he received
