Family and friends
Eli est parti... Whilst we are all in shock, we wanted a place to be close to Elisabeth - to honour the inspiring, witty, funny, zesty lady she was and to feel her beautiful soul all around us. Eli est parti... in all those beautiful places she loved and beyond, and forever in our hearts

Stéphanie Comere Vacances en bateau
Sarah Holmes We first met Babeth and the lovely Comere family when I was just 4 years old; we were camping across from each other and became firm childhood friends immediately. My sister and I spent every Summer after that with Babeth and her sisters - riding our bikes, playing on the beach, hanging out at the park round the corner from her house…. and probably getting up to mischief! As we got older Babeth would come and stay with us in Bath, England and we would visit her in Rennes - I have so many amazing memories of our time growing up. I really loved our holiday in The Alps together - lots of walking and eating Raclette! Babeth was so much fun - she was kind, generous and always up for an adventure. She was full of life. It was such a shock to hear that she’d lost her battle and my heart goes out to Paolo, her family and her friends. I’m so dreadfully sorry for your loss. Babeth, thank you for being such an important part of my childhood, your friendship meant so much to me. Your approach to life was inspiring and reading all these wonderful memories I can see the huge impact you had on everyone around you. You are very special and will never be forgotten, all my love, Sarah xxxxxxxx

Francine Howard I met Elisabeth at Cardiff University when she was on her Erasmus year abroad as part of her degree. We had many many fun times together over the years. At Cardiff she helped me structure my work and thanks to her I was able to get top grades for French. She had absolute clarity of thought, a really intelligent academic student. I always told her she’d make a really good Judge because she could take a load of complicated information and order it to make simple sense. Always generous and thoughtful, just a wonderful person and a wonderful friend. We met up many times in different places and different stages of our lives. It was always a joy to be with her. I was and I still am just devastated that she is no longer here with us. I am so happy that she met Paulo because she was truly in love and had finally found that very special person, who I still look forward to meeting.

Julie Nye Eli’s birthday celebration 2010 🥰 I met Eli in 2010 through my dear friend Maureen. I will forever be grateful that she came into my life 💕
Magali Barral Before leaving Brussels for her adventures in the States she stayed her last week at home. The morning of her flight she didn’t want anyone to go with her but she allowed my son to help her out with her suitcase. That pic means so much to me not only because she sent it back recently but also because it’s yet another symbol of her rich life throughout people and places. She touched and reached across everyone and everywhere 💕.
Aris Apollonatos Dear Ndugu, having a toast during our Christmas dinner in Chicago. We went shopping that day to Whole Foods to buy good quality products, cooked turkey and I made some side dishes. Eli also taught me how to bake a chocolate cake. She would police me LOOOL making sure I follow closely the recipe. In the end, it all worked out well and master chef Eli gave me her blessing. I like this picture because Eli it captures Eli's love for life. Miss you very much dear Ndugu.
Aris Apollonatos And the famous chocolate cake! I made up a story the day after that the cat, Satine, licked half of it. She was furious with Satine. I'm in tears writing this because then I told her the truth and she would not believe me. Eli would bake this cake in Brussels. I would eat nothing else but her cake at her house gatherings.
Aris Apollonatos Together with Eli under the famous bean. It was cold that day but we survived. Did some great sightseeing, went for lunch at Barney's (which filled for bankruptcy after covid). Eli would spend a fortune there. Probably explains why the shop closed after she decided to move to Europe. She had a great sense of style and always liked particular things that would be distinguished. I would tease her that she was buying the same jumper or scarves over and over again. She would laugh saying..probably.
Aris Apollonatos Eli sitting at the Chicago Museum of Modern Art. Such a lover for art and culture. We would always relish the opportunity to go at a gallery or a concert and then complaint that it was mediocre. Did you like it, I would ask her? Pas mal pas mal she would say.

Kasia Koniar So many wonderful memories Eli over the last ten years! From going hiking to the 80’s themed party! You were always up for an adventure.

Aris Apollonatos And we finally made it to New York. It was bitterly cold. That part of the US was covered in snow. Our flights got cancelled. I flew much later and eventually met at the apartment we rented to spend a few days. We were constantly complaining about the infrastructure in NY but loved it in the end. She was in tears with my comments. I kept telling her Old Europe is mooooore advanced. Pack it all and come back. LOOOL. So happy she went to live there and moved in with Paulo. She loved that city, walks in the parks with Dua and Loulou, concerts, movies, aperos...she would tell me all about during our Skype calls.
Avisheh Mohsenin First time most of us met Eli. We loved her upbeat fun energy. 💜
Nadège Hélias C’est serait ton anniversaire 💔 Joyeux Anniversaire ma belle bretonne… These pictures date a decade (birthday celebrations 2011/2012/2013), we had birthdays 2 days apart and we celebrated together when you were living in Chicago 💫 It’s just so heartbreaking that your radiant smile has left us Eli…your joie de vivre and passion for life and adventures were so inspiring. You would meet so many people around the world and form a long lasting friendship. I thanked Joe Slyman for introducing you to me via the Brussels connection. 🙏 Toutes mes condoléances à Paulo et la famille d’Elisabeth 🕯🕊 c’est très chagrinant de savoir qu’une étoile nous a quittée 💫
Gabriella Bossuto Christmas morning, sitting under the beautiful tree made by Eli with her unmistakable, chic and unique taste. I crossed Eli’s life when I moved to Chicago and I had the privilege to spend a lot of time with her during the 1,5 year that I was in US. Eli, “ma petite canard sucree”, I wish with all my heart that I could hug you again under a Xmas tree. I wish that I could still talk to you about anything as we were used to do. Thank you for having being such a great, pure, genuine, intelligent and caring friend! I will miss you for ever and you will stay for ever in my heart. Your “little peanut” Gabi.
Gabriella Bossuto One day, in Chicago, Eli told me: “My mom learned me that you should always have a bunch of flowers on your table and a bottle of champagne in your fridge”. This is really you, my dear Eli. So French and so international soul and spirit, you were fitting everywhere across countries and cultures. So respectful of everyone, you kept your roots and bonds to your original country while sitting on the two coasts of the Atlantic Ocean. I love you, my dearest citizen of the world.

Kasia Koniar Eli was always such a special friend to me. It’s easy to see on this time line, how many people feel this way, and how much her lovely personality, openness , and spirit touched those around her. A truly exceptional person, deeply loved and loving, fun, brilliant and adventurous. I was lucky to spend many fun years in her company, in both Chicago, and New York. Like this day when we went apple picking in the fall with a whole group of friends. My heart is broken and I miss her so much!!! Our friendship meant the world to me and now there’s a huge void ! My deepest condolences to Paulo and Eli’s family. Sending you love and strength in this dark and difficult time.
Chiara Bolner Miami baby!! What a great time: sun tanning in South beach, breakfast at News Cafè, dinner at Joe's Crab, Spa at Delano's, shopping around..but most of all enjoying your company!
Maura Checconi Here we are!
Aris Apollonatos We took a trip to NYC with Simone and Eli came to join us. She visited from Chicago and hosted her in our apartment. Had such a laugh. The first night we went at the Standard and celebrated the fact that she got her Green Card. We were so happy for her. Finally, her status was settled. The next day we went to Brooklyn Gardens. On the way back we wanted to check which stop we should get off. The guard started yelling at us (typically NY style). That mini city break with Eli was so great. Catching up and spending time.
Maura Checconi I love this picture with Eli and me having a drink in Chicago. I remember we were not far from Barney's, one of her favorite stores of course!! I left the" Windy city " a couple of months after we took this pic; she visited me in Turin (Italy) and stayed at my house for a couple of days in 2014. She was fun, but she was also capable of a deep understanding . I truly miss her.
Marisa Serrato We are so grateful that Eli was able to bring her sparkle and love to our special day. We love you, Eli!
Like Coman And it’s the laughter that we will remember … of Eli. (Posing a few hours ago before she trotted down the light tunnel like a model). All that matters is the moments we shared and the friendship bonds we formed together….
Avisheh Mohsenin Kasia’s 80’s party at a warehouse art studio in Chicago
Like Coman And I said,” Eli, Eli, trot to me like a supermodel down this light tunnel!” And she did … this tall beautiful soul trotting into our lives with smile and high spirit.
Like Coman Then, she floated away into the tunnel of light… it’s bitter sweet remembering moments of laughter with Eli and missing her at the same time…
Aris Apollonatos Crossing Shibuya, Japan. From the trips we took, probably Eli's favourite. She loved everything there-the food, the culture, the style. But she also found something she got fed up in the end-the shrines. After three, she said..Arou, enough, they all look the same. Let's see the rest of the city. I travelled from Paris (bought her "Elle") and she travelled from Chicago, I think. Met a Shibuya. She brought me cookies from Whole Foods for breakfast. I warned about Japanese cuisine that it was not my thing LOOOOL.
Aris Apollonatos We went Karaoke night in Shinjuku. What a crazy idea. Had such a laugh. We would choose the most outrageous songs to sing and call the waiter to bring us more refreshments and hang up quickly so that we would not miss our turn to sing. On our way out, we sneaked into another room of crazy drunk Japanese people, they invited to sing along and ended up dancing with them on the sofa, doing a train, laughing so much. We had no clue what we were singing but we had such a blast.
Aris Apollonatos New Year in Kyoto! We arrived the night before at a Ryokan (traditional hotel) and the following day climbed up the hill to go welcome the new year. They woke up at 07:30 for breakfast (can you believe it?) and they served us this omelette, which Eli found delicious, and I found revolting. Tea has a bad smell and the miso soup smelled like wet socks. Terrible. Apparently, she thought it was top quality. But I was happy she found everything great-less complaints better the day! LOOOL. We visited shrines, went for lunch and at night went for Wagyu beef (I did at least), Eli had another sushi.
Avisheh Mohsenin Various years between 2012-2015. Always up for having a good time and a deep convo.
Aris Apollonatos Eli in Ginza. She looved Ginza shopping. Every window was almost like an art display. We would separate to go to different shops because there are malls only for women/men. Those nights were very cold but she would have she would wear those earmuffs to keep her warm. She was so proud of them. I would tease her saying that Hello Princess Leah from Star Wars. She would laugh so much and tease me back saying Arou...I am so warm and comfortable with them. Sweet Ndugu.
Chiara Bolner "The song is ended but the melody lingers on" TVB Bouli! Ta Polpetta
Marisa Serrato Thank you, Eli, for all of your cooking lessons and tips! We will still always want to send you photos of beautiful dishes to let you know we are thinking about you and wishing you could join us! We will never appreciate food in the same way :)
Aude Villette Dinner in Paris with Eli and Stefi - such a glorious evening
Marisa Serrato Eli, you are were and will always be our 'soul sister.' You were our 'glue,' our family. We will never forget your smile or the joy that we felt whenever we spent time with you. What a gift it was to have you in our lives. Thank you, our loveliest friend.
Aris Apollonatos A reunion in Europe! Finally! Eli travelled back to France to visit family and friends. Maureen and Stefi came too. We had such a great time. I was responsible for logistics. Found the flat, made sure it was central, comfortable with many rooms and bathrooms for all. It worked out fine. It was so nice seeing Stefi after all this time. But most of all, I was happy to see them together. I got to spend time with Maureen and would tease her about the Vatican. Had a such a good time. One of the guards stopped me, checked my camera and deleted some of my pictures. Can you believe it?? Would not happen nowadays because of data privacy. LOOL. Food in Rome was great. I insisted invited them all to gelato (Venchi was favourite). Found one near the Pantheon.
Daria

Avisheh Mohsenin October festivities 😢
Jason Pelz I was fortunate enough to have Elisabeth as my partner in crime for almost the entire time I have been at Tetra Pak. A person spends a lot of time at work away from their family and when you are lucky enough to have a colleague that becomes your dear friend then that is special. The picture above is from one of our adventures with a customer to a forest in Southern Wisconsin. It is a great picture, kind of like the cover of a record album, 100% her idea. I could tell hundreds of stories about our travels, the food we ate and the crazy that we witnessed together...but that would take too long. Elisabeth was a wonderful person with so much energy and joy and adventure. I am very sad that she is gone, but like all of us I will keep with me all of those happy memories of her forever.
Julie Nye Enjoying the ocean in Santa Monica 😊 Shortly before this pic, Carrie and I had persuaded Eli to go on what was her first and I presume to be her last rollercoaster ride …. That memory will always make me giggle 🥰
Melika Rafiei A few days after she officially moved to Dallas, going around her future neighborhood. Thank you Avisheh for being the reason to know our sweet Eli
Avisheh Mohsenin In Chicago before or around the time Eli moved to Dallas
Marisa Serrato . . .one of our many brunches with our sweet Eli.
Aris Apollonatos We met in Mexico for another adventurous trip. I was fully entrusted with the logistics. She only asked one thing:good conditions (whatever that means) LOOOL. We spend a few days at Francine's and Martin's who were so kind to let us stay in their flat. Visited Mexico city, Yucatan peninsula and back to Mexico DC. I loved Mexico and the food. It was payback time for me after Japan's restricted food choice. Over there I could eat anything spicy. Meanwhile, Ndugu had to restrict herself to chicken and fish. Did so much sightseeing and visited Merida, Valladolid and Tulum. We also went to Punta Allen-loooong story. Such an adventure.
Aris Apollonatos And just like this we had a Brussels reunion. Turns out that Graham and Bo were in Yucatan too. They were driving our direction and we all had breakfast in Valladolid. It was so great being all together since 2008 in the middle of nowhere in Mexico!! How surreal was this. They loved Eli and Eli loved them. We would meet with an extended group of friends for drinks, food. Plus they had a vegetarian thing going and I would be the minority voice being a meat lover... Another beautiful Mexico memory of all of us together.
Aris Apollonatos Made it to the Pyramids and tried to get a picture of us jumping. We drove over there, queued (actually I queued LOOOL because of the warm temperature, Ndugu came the last half hour) and after visiting the monuments we agreed they were totally overrated....LOOOOL We just could not get what was the big fuss with the Mayas pyramids. We would tease Francine about this all the time.
Aris Apollonatos We found a place to chill out-Cilantro in Tulum. We would go there to relax, sunbathe. I took a picture of Eli as she took a walk by the beach. Mexico was our last long trip. We had many many laughs. Discovered towns, local customs, villages. We took a road trip which was so amazingly interesting. I always admired her curiosity about things, love to travel and experience new cultures. My dear friend, Ndugu.
Giulliana Krug Distributing water at Expo West was so much fun!
Giulliana Krug In the middle of a sugar cane plantation, shooting a video about green plastic production, this was a great trip together! I will never forget it!
Aris Apollonatos Stefi and the girls went to visit Eli. She was so happy to have them over. She sent me this picture and I loved it because they were all together so happy!
Melika Rafiei Eli’s apartment in Dallas, we went furniture shopping and Le Pouf was one of her items she got here. Her taste in everything was incredible. Later on she took it to Portugal
Isabelle Faucher It's incredibly hard to believe that Elisabeth is no longer with us... I met Elisabeth in 2010 through work. There was an overwhelming consensus amongst my former colleagues and I that she was, hands down, the nicest client you could ever ask for! I am grateful for the years of working alongside her and getting to know her better. She was incredibly generous with her time and her knowledge, and she was so fun to be around! I have fond memories of sharing some foodie-forward meals with her, weather it be flame-seared sushi in Toronto or decadent deserts in Montreal. This picture was taken in Niagara Falls when we attended a conference together and enjoyed a glass of wine while admiring the scenery. Dear Elisabeth, you will be incredibly missed
Mustan Lalani The North America sustainability gang in Curitiba, Brazil visiting a paper supplier. Elisabeth loved the pumas roaming in the forest but did not love the lack of vegetarian food options 😂

Aris Apollonatos Eli and Cecile in NYC. Cecile flew over with family and they sent me a picture of them. I was so happy to see her surrounded by her Brussels friends. Cecile has been such a beloved friend of Eli. I would always ask about Cecile and she would come up in our chats. Love the picture because they are so happy and full of light!

Francine Howard Wonderful visit with Elisabeth (I will always remember her as Babeth, although she specifically asked me this time to please call her Eli because that was much more grown and that’s what people called her nowadays :-) We walked a lot around Manhattan with her little dog in the chilly sunny days. I had the pleasure of meeting Paulo over zoom and Elisabeth cooked an absolutely delicious vegetarian dish for a little dinner party in her apartment. Great catch ups. I will miss her so much.
Aris Apollonatos Eli sent me this image she took with Francine when they met in New York to give me a shout out or "un petit coucou" as she would say. She was so happy to see Francine when we visited Mexico and delighted to have kept in touch since university. I was really glad getting to know her too.

Aris Apollonatos Goodbye NYC. This was the last picture Eli sent me from NYC. She was ready to move back to Europe and start a new chapter with Paulo, Dua, Loulou. She always had, however, a soft spot for the big apple. She would tell me on those Skype calls all about the big city.

I put together two videos from the photos sent from some of Eli's friends (listed below) from her time in Chicago. There is some overlap in the photos of people used, but they aren't exactly the same. They have different paces so she could choose based on her mood. Love. Cécile

Aude Villette Igreja de Santos-o-Velho in Lisboa where the ceremony took place today
Aude Villette A few weeks have elapsed since Eli left this world and we can all feel the long shadow that her absence is casting on us. And her beautiful soul paying us visits dressed up as a butterfly, luminous in the sunset, glorious in the morning light. A ceremony will take place in Rennes, France, this Saturday 13 November and we are planning to gather virtually around the world on Saturday 4 December. Please reach out to me audemc.villette@gmail.com if you want to know more. With love, Aude
Aude Villette After a ceremony in France on Friday 12 November, Eli's ashes were dispersed in the sea by the Brittany coast by her darling Paulo and close family
