Eartha Kitt

Eartha Mae Kitt was an American singer, actress, dancer and cabaret star who passed away at the age of 81 from colon cancer. She had her hit recording of "C'est Si Bon" in 1953. She was once called as the "most exciting woman in the world" by Orson Welles. Born 1927 in South Carolina, in 1943 Kitt joined the Katherine Dunham Company and remained with them until 1948. Then in 1952, she was cast in the revue "New Faces" of 1952, introducing "Monotonous" and "Bal, Petit Bal.” in 1953 she recorded the hit “Champagne Taste.” Four years later she appeared in the film, "Mark of the Hawk." In 1960 she got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 1966 she found more fame when she was featured as Catwoman in the TV series "Batman" after Julie Newmar had left the role. Two years later, Kitt was a member of the "Women's International League for Peace and Freedom." Later in her life in 1984, she came back to the music charts with a disco song, "Where Is My Man." In 1998 she appeared as the Wicked Witch of the West in
