Uncle Dhansidh was known to me since 1975. During my growing up years in Morabadi Villa, Ranchi he was very close to my parents. The frequent drives to Khunti and...

Alvin Lakra My Tau was always a loving person. Every time I got to see him I always knew he loved me. I grew up in front of him and I can always remember all of his gifts he has given me. Every time I went to his house he let me pick out any toy I wanted and all I can remember asking myself was why he always gave me toys and I know now it was his way showing he will always love me. I will miss him so much and always remember him in my heart.
A calm and gentle personality is how I have know Mr Lakra. To the Family members of Dhansidh Lakra, We have good memories of a smiling Dhansidh, a good-natured man and who never failed to greet and say hello whenever we met in church or functions. Atul Nowrangi Sheetal and I have been blessed with knowing and associating with Dhansid and his remarkable family for many years now. Our two families have often met and socialized together. Dhansid was loved and treasured by those who were fortunate enough to have him touch their lives in many ways: husband, father, brother, friend and confidant. He impressed us all with his charm, his patience, his kindness, his intelligence, his loyalty to friends, his ability to endure pain and to remain calm and positive under most critical moments, his love for children, and life in general. Over the last few years Dhansid had many critical health issues that needed invasive treatments and long hospital stays. We do not remember him ever complaining to us of pain, or ever looking depressed. Whenever we asked him, “How are you?” He would always reply, “I’m doing very well.” On one of the recent combined family trips, we drove to Tennessee. It was real heartwarming to note how enthusiastically Dhansid was enjoying the journey. On our way back from Tennessee, he had already started to plan for our next trip. His solo trip to Europe and South America held a special place in his heart. Recently, he had expressed his desire to visit Australia with us. Dhansid was a people-person. Often he would volunteer to drive (disregarding the medical risk to himself) visitors long distances to show them places of interest, at no cost to the visitors. He enjoyed socializing with friends and acquaintances – keeping them home overnight, at times. Fortunately, his wife, Helena (who did most of the cooking), is as generous as he was, and she happily did her part. Dhansid always welcomed us home and treated us as part of the family. He warmed our hearts and made us feel extra special – always asking us not to leave yet, saying, “Please stay a little while longer.” One of Dhansid’s best traits was that he always lived his life to the fullest and loved to laugh and smile. He taught us a lot over the years. He often emphasized the fact that the world is not going to last long, and that we should always be prepared for the Second Coming of Christ. Dhansid will be remembered by those who knew and loved him for his love for his family, his compassion for others, his independent nature, his quick wit, his loyalty towards his friends, his love for life, and his trust in God. We are blessed to have been part of his life, and have the assurance that we will one day meet again. Sheetal and Atul Nowrangi
I first met my dear friend DB for the first time in 1965 when we both came to Roorkee Seventh day Adventist school. Since then we were friends. I used to tell DB and everyone that he was my best friend. Anytime I said I don't have any friends, my granddaughter, Soraya would say, yes you do. You have DB dada as your best friend. DB was a very go...

You will be missed dearly. Knowing you and having you around was fun and laughter always echoed. Uncle was thoughtful and never missed to share vegetables from the garden. My sincere condolences to the family, Steve and Anu Lakra. Dhansidh (Thans as we called him) was a good friend of my brother Koshy. Everytime my brother visited from India, Thans was always there. Lanny Tirkey Our deepest sympathy and condolences to our loving Chachi, Delma and Donny and also to Lakra family. Our prayers and love at this time of sorrow and pain will always comfort them. There are lots of memories Chacha has left behind for all of us. Our loving chacha had a wonderful and loving heart, very compassionate, very cheerful and always had a smile on his face. Though he was going through his physical challenges, but still always spoke with the big smile on his face. His sweet smile on his face will be miss very much. He visited Sabita at Inova trauma centerin Fairfax and Adventist rehab center in Rockville number of times. He enjoyed the most Jharkhand camp and contributed his best smile. He enjoyed fishing in Frederick, he fell, got some bruises and cut, but smiled and said I am okay. Most recent, before COVID-19 he came to Frederick and we had the family fellowship and lunch together. He enjoyed the fellowship and lunch with a everlasting smile. He left the legacy and the good smile for all of us and will be remembered always. With best wishes from:- Lanny, Sabita, Larry Tanvi and Family members from Barobisha.
