Join MemoriesNot a day has gone by since David's passing that I haven't thought of him or the cherished times we spent together. As first cousins, we were closer in age to each other than we were to our brothers, and I imagine that provided a shared bond that was unbreakable and quite special. I can't even begin to recount all the great fun we had as kids AND as adults. As children, the town I live in now, PIne Beach, was so very special to us growing up--a true playground. Later in life, as we became "adults" and had to earn a living, I was extremely fortunate to be able to visit David in Minnesota during an annual business trip for just about each of the last 35 years, and those visits were priceless. David and I shared so much. Whether during our childhood and teen-year summer gatherings, where finding a girlfriend and a cold beer was a priority, or when we were adults, when finding a place that served seafood and oysters on the half shell became a standing tradition, Dave and I were steadfast FRIENDS, not just cousins. Rock and roll, fast cars, a HEAVY dose of Whitman family silliness, ("Pull up your hair!") and an affliction for having fun, acted as the glue that cemented our friendship beyond the family ties. I am so saddened and devastated to know that Dave and I will not be able to continue our tale together, but the memories will always be a part of me. I miss you David.
To the Friends and Family of Dave: My condolences for your loss. To say that I'm in shock to know Dave has passed away would be an understatement. I worked with Dave for over 22 years at Minneapolis Business College. He was Director of Education when I was a student attending MBC, as well as when I was hired to work there after graduating. When he was promoted to President he was instrumental in my being promoted to Director of Student Services, where I remained until we wound down college operations in January 2020. We went through a lot in those 20 years and I appreciate the mentor he was to me in my time working with him. I only wish I would have had the opportunity to say good-bye. Grace - if you read this, you were ALWAYS top of his mind. He loved you like nothing else, which was evident with the collage of your photos that were displayed in his office. I guarantee your dad is looking out for you from above each and every day.
