Mr. Bartell was an amazing man & I feel fortunate that I have so many childhood memories that include him & the Bartell family. I’m praying for comfort & peace for all of you.
Dan graduated high school a year ahead of me but we were not well acquainted at that point. Big school, too many kids to know everyone, but we later worked together many, many years at First National Bank in Little Rock. He was unfailingly cheerful, kind, always pleasant, and a popular staff member. As paths altered, we reconnected through civic activities and later 81-10 reunions. Often it was at Friendly Chapel's annual fish fry, which was great fun and a blessing, but also hard work. I never saw Dan without a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eyes. What a role model for all of us. My sympathies to his family.
So many fun memories from my childhood and teenage years involve the Bartell family. Mr. Bartell always convinced us to watch an old movie or musical during sleepovers and would entertain us with his funny stories! He was so happy when there were guests in their home in NLR or at the lake house. Most of all, he loved his family and he dearly loved to share about his faith. It was for these reasons that I loved being around him! He was such a great guy!
Donna and Family, I am so sorry about Dan's passing. Dan was a wonderful person, none better. Dan was a true and loyal friend for decades and it was my honor to be his. He was grand mentor, especially with DeMolay. Larry
Dear Laura: I’m very sorry. I know how much your dad meant to you. He set a wonderful example for you as a person, and I know you will cherish your memories of him.
Sandra & I only met and got to know Dan and Donna the past few years. Instantly, meeting Dan you recognized he was a special person possessing charm and wit bundled together by a unique communication skill. Dan was someone we would have enjoyed meeting much earlier in life. His love of Christ was evident. Our sincere condolences to Donna and family.
Sending you my sincere condolences on the loss of such a wonderful man. With love -
This hit me hard. I feel like a piece of my childhood is gone. I send each of you all my love as you begin to heal from this loss.
Your husband and dad brought great joy to my life. He had a great love for life and all those with whom he came in contact. I remember the smile that was always on his face. A 12 mile run with Dan was made easier because he was a master conversationalist and never got winded! I appreciate his deep Christian faith and love for all others. God bless you in your loss.
RIP Dan (or Mr Bartell as I always called him) was the most kind, witty and generous gentleman. I have fond memories of how Dan and Donna went out of their way to make me feel welcome. Dan was very proud of his NLR heritage and was always keen to enlighten me - the girl from across the Pond! Not only did he welcome me but he was also so hospitable to my parents when they visited too - he even arranged for us to receive the Arkansas Traveler certificate. He wrote a poem about me and my time in NLR which makes me smile chuckle wen I think of it!
Jim & I are so sorry to hear about Dan's passing. He was so kind to us both when we were newcomers to the Little Rock area. His friendliness and outgoing personality were unique and will be greatly missed. Our condolences to the entire Bartell family.
I have known Dan Bartell all my life. He was my 1st cousin, and we grew up together . He was only 3 years older than me,and was much more than a cousin. He was like a big brother. All of my life, we have been a close family, and I love and miss him. He was Danny to me and I will always cherish a book he wrote about our family. Thank you Danny for the wonderful memories.
Uncle Dan as I called him…such a beautiful heart and soul. I will always remember his wonderful smile, always smiling. His funny jokes, love of bursting out in song, dancing, talking to whoever, never met a stranger, love of giving and helping others, always making sure everyone around was happy and smiling and having a good time. Uncle Dan was a rock for all. A great soul has departed us all. It is not in grief that he is not here, but in thankfulness that he was and that we were all blessed to be a part of his life. A man so special will never be forgotten. He will live on forever in our stories and memories because he was such an incredible human being to all he knew. Love you all, Kim
Uncle Danny was a wonderful man inside and out. he was kind to everyone. I have so many great memories over the years of trips to Arkansas to visit, Danny and him telling his childhood stories, driving us in the boat on the lake and pulling the kids in tubes behind it, going to the horse races, and many more. He was a great storyteller, and I loved it when he told his childhood stories of him and my mom. I will miss him greatly. He may not be in this earthly life. But I know he is in heaven dancing with the Lord! Love you all, Robin
Like my sister Cynthia, Danny was our first cousin and was like a big brother to me, too. As a little boy, I would go in Danny’s bedroom in North Little Rock and admire all of the golf trophies he had won. There must have been 100 of them! I thought for sure my cousin was going to be the next Arnold Palmer! So many memories I’ll never forget. The world was a better place and a much funnier place when Danny Bartell was in it! Thank you Danny for bringing the Laughter Life to all of us who were lucky enough to have known you!
Mr. Dan Bartell was our neighbor for the past seven years. He welcomed us to the neighborhood wholeheartedly. He shared his wit, sense of humor, kindness, modesty and sincerity with us. Dan always made my day with his ease and friendliness. We chatted about current events, nature, tennis, running, old films, and musicals. We laughed a lot. It was wonderful to see his fondness for his wife and daughters. I will miss him very much.
I will remember Dan as a pillar of our community, welcoming and energetic. Very often, he was outdoors enjoying conversations with neighbors. It was an honor to know him. He will be missed.
Danny's remarkable smile and laughter always brought joy to others. He is part of many happy memories. He will be greatly missed.
