Bernice Corley-Ashe
Bernice Corley-Ashe, age 70 of Harlem, N. Y., passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, March 25, 2021. She was born to the late Reginald G. Smith, Sr. and Louise Inez Smith on March 2, 1951. She is pre-deceased by three brothers, Reginald G. Smith, Jr., James L. Smith, and Daniel M. Smith. Bernice attended Orlando College, Orlando, Fl., receiving a BA in Business Administration with a Florida Teaching Certificate, 3.7 GPA, Dean’s List. She attended Suffolk Community College in Suffolk County, L.I., earning an AS Degree, 3.5 GPA, Dean’s List. She also attended the Wilfred Academy receiving a New York State Cosmetology License. After the passing of her 1st husband Gilbert Corley, Sr. she met and married Roy M. Ashe, (Deceased) on January 2, 1979. The couple lived in Brentwood L.I., and moved to Florida in 1983 with their family. Bernice loved bowling and was encouraged to go professional after several 300 games. She grew up surrounded by a large family and developed long lasting friendships lasting as long as 60+ years with Terrie Brown-Cox and Rodney Brown her running buddy. She retired and spent time with her grandkids, hosting summer visits with her nieces, nephews and friends over the years. Bernice is survived by her sons, Gilbert Corley, Jr., Darian Corley, Corey Greene, her daughter Traci Trasso, Thomas Trasso, Son-in-Law, granddaughter Brianna Villanueva, grandsons Chris A. Erwin and TJ Trasso, Jr., her Sister Cynthia Jackson, Rick Jackson, Brother-in-Law, Sharon Smith, Sister-in-Law, Rasheida Smith, Niece, Stella Smith, Sister-in-law, Jastone Smith, Niece, Troi Smith, Nephew, Sharon Fredricks, Sister-in-law, Trina Corley, Niece, Michelle Corley, Niece, Brittany Corley-Williams, Niece, Tara Corley, Niece (Deceased), Leslie Simonson-Moore, God-daughter, Smith family of Massachusetts. Due to the Covid-19 Restrictions on the number of church attendees, Bernice was cremated on 4/5/21 and the scattering of her ashes will be in a private ceremony.
