Courtney Kristien Mixon was born on June 4, 1995 to his loving mother, Carol Geneane (Mixon) Higgins in Augusta, Georgia. As a child, Courtney was always happy and cheerful. He enjoyed making people laugh and was always ready to help someone with care and compassion. He was an amazing cook and loved to learn how to make his favorite meals from his Mom so he could cook for the family. Courtney was nurtured, loved, and raised by his stepfather and his mother Sean and Carol Higgins. Courtney adored his younger siblings, Chase, Cross, and Madeline who he helped welcome into the world. Courtney was committed to his education and a whiz at math. He earned his associates degree from UMUC in May of 2019. He was a source of knowledge for his siblings when they struggled with academics and was always ready and willing to help. Being a military child, Courtney traveled a lot and embraced each new adventure. Although theme parks like Disney World, Six Flags, Carrowinds, and Europa Park were his favorite getaways, Courtney traveled with his family to Munich, Milan, Rome, Florence, Naples (Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius which he bravely climbed), Venice, Prague, London, Paris, Normandy, and many more cities where he enjoyed learning about the local culture, visiting the landmarks, and tasting the food. Courtney passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 10, 2021. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Charles & Betty Mixon, great grandmother Hattie Mixon, uncle Adrian Mixon, great uncle Haywood Mixon, and great grandparents Busha and Edmonia Brandon. Courtney will be missed everyday by his loving stepfather Sean Higgins, his mother Carol Higgins, and his siblings, Madeline, Cross, and Chase. Courtney leaves behind many family, friends, and extended family who loved and nurtured him in life; Bruce and Marjè Mixon, Carmelita Mixon, Tracy Mixon, Roger Mixon, Michael Mixon, Caleb Mixon, Charlotte Mixon, Bernard and JaNeice Gilbert, James and Shirley Sanders and the entire Sanders Family, Robert Brandon, Jean Brandon, and the entire Brandon family, grandparents Jerry and Marilyn Davis, Phillip and June Higgins, aunts Shannon Morgans, Kathleen Kravke, Julie Mendel, cousins Megan, Jurie, Early-Ray, Katie, Jack, Ross and Andrew, and many others who will miss him dearly.
