The first time I met Chris was when he came to help me out when I was new to the team....in a motorbike shop....needless to say...like a kid at Christmas. I had the great pleasure of working with him for many years and when visiting him at home always had a engine part or two out and tinkering with it. Bike mad, loyal, intelligent and one of the m...
Chris Hook - what a great guy, brilliant technician and always had a smile and a word for you. Met Chris when I started in the late 80âs in Mansfield and its satellites. He could always be relied on for help and advice and we always had a laugh when he came into the MDF room. A true gent. Sorry I couldnât be there last Friday. RIP Chris - gone too...
Geoff Hengmith Some pictures of Chris on one of our Gothic weekends at Whitby. In memory of Chris Hook he was a friend and collegue for over 32 years at Openreach. I worked with him he was also my boss for a couple of years, he gave me my first mobile phone an Ericson and my first Laptop which completly changed the way we worked. We both went to London for a week on an Isdn harrier faulting course we stayed at the holiday Inn edgware rd and went out for a drink in the evening in Kilburn and met some right characters. Very intelligent articulate practical and loyal. He could turn his hand to anything all his outfits made by himself, someone you could rely on definitly. Rest in peace mate you're gonna be missed by many.
Rob Ringrose You know youâre a legend when you appear on an exchange wall! Great picture of Chris and Geoff no doubt after a few pints at a Christmas do!
I used love our conversations about when he used to have a caravan and all the memories he shared of family holidays.
Chris loved motorbikes and relished days out on his Blackbird and always had dreams of renovating his Laverda Jota. Chris enjoyed his job as a telephone engineer and was highly respected for his expertise in ISDN and BB.
Rob Ringrose It was a pleasure to manage Chris. Over the years we grew into friends and I will sorely miss him. He always seemed to find the most difficult tasks but relished getting customers in service and took great pride in it. He used to call it "Hooky's luck" and on evidence I'm convinced it's a real thing! He had a wonderful sense of humour and always found a way to make others smile despite his own struggles. I will miss you Chris and I hope there will be plenty of clear roads up there to ride your bike on!
Always a pleasure to meet and work with him. I know he's left a Chris type hole in my life.
I first got to know Chris when I was 18 as we both worked for TIS LTD in Mansfield albeit in different departments. I stood out as the young trainee as I travelled from my home in Nottingham every day for five years and as such I was welcomed by all the staff and enjoyed many social trips out . These trips was were I got to know Chris particularly ...

Neil Lehane I can recall our first meeting where Chris in only his way put me straight on what he thought of management. I soon spent the day out with him (photo is Chris problem solving on our first job of the day) getting to know the person, soon we found we both had a love for motorbikes and at the end of our first day together we were real buddies. Over the next four years working together we had some great times, scrambling events, track days, weddings, even the odd meal with a Mr Chawner, but my fondest memories are taking Chris for a spin in my new car up the Chesterfield Road and him nicknaming me âleadfootâ when we got back to his house we laughed and giggled like kids, me showing off my new racing car and Chris holding on as tight as he could as we went around the islands. Thank you Chris for not only being an exceptional engineer and colleague but a true honest friend. I will miss you.
