Bobby Womack

Bobby Womack was one of the greatest American soul singers and guitarist whose career started in the 1960s. He departed this life on June 27, 2014 at the age of 70 in Tarzana, California. His style of music was classic: R&B, soul, rock and roll, doo-wop, gospel, and country. Born 1944 in Cleveland, Ohio, he released his first single at the age of 10 with Curtis Womack and the Womack Brothers. In 1961 he joined the Valentinos and released their album, “Looking for a Love.” In 1968 Womack released his first solo album, “Fly Me to the Moon” and four years later in 1972 his single “That's the Way I Feel About Cha” went to No. 2 on the charts. When he released his next album, “The Poet” in 1982 this was considered the high point of his career. Finally, in 2009, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. After his passing, a memorial service was held at the City of Refuge church in Los Angeles and his family and friends gathered at the famed church to honor him. He is survived by his four children
